Overview

"The secluded backwoods of beautiful Tennessee is the perfect setting for this mesmerizing contemporary gothic tale. There is a chilling sense of foreboding that permeates the sheer essence of this story." - Night Owl Paranormal

There are two prospects for a man who becomes too curious about a Lagori woman...death or madness.

Ethan Broughton might just discover a third destination.

In 1935, Dr. Leland Broughton was rescued from a morbid snake bite in East Tennessee by the appearance of a ghostly woman possessed of a powerful antivenom. In 1996, Leland’s grandson, Dr. Ethan Broughton, agreed to investigate a potent medicinal plant and a rumor of curative miracles on Porringer Hill in East Tennessee. What he found was an isolated community of disturbing superstition centered on one woman, Ana Lagori, a local apothecary with a mysterious ability to heal all wounds.

This is the story of that most fateful encounter.

Totally unique to anything I've read before, exactly what I needed.

This is a book that should be enjoyed sitting in a rocker on the back porch on a hot summer day while sipping lemonade, with absolutely nothing to intrude on the senses of the reader except birdsong and a breeze rustling tree leaves.

I loved this book. It is hypnotic, enthralling, magical and spell binding. A unique and engrossing tale, written in an almost old fashioned style.

...a highly intelligent treatment of the kind of ghost story or supernatural tale that is very popular right now.

It keeps one guessing at the outcome and just just when you think you have it figured out, it surprises you.

I loved this book. It is hypnotic, enthralling, magical and spell binding. A unique and engrossing tale, written in an almost old fashioned style. This is good writing, where the author uses the English language beautifully to evoke mystery, romance and the supernatural in a mainly narrative piece of work. Colours, textures and emotions are brought richly to life in this tale. A big thumbs up from me, and I'm not easily pleased! 5 Stars.

Darkiss Reads - Jeannie Zelos
This book is a combination of the paranormal, a mystery, a sort of horror without the fast paced gore and guts so often prevalent, and an unusual romance. Its beautifully written and very descriptive and it was easy to picture the characters living on the mountainside and the beautiful scenery and plant life surrounding it. 4 Stars.

The Evangeline Heresy is something rare in novels that deal with the supernatural these days in that it is wholly unique. For starters, it is a quiet novel. One that allows you to get lost in the atmosphere of the narrative while at the same time it propels you to its conclusion.

Unfortunately though that is all I can say because to say more would open up this review to the potential of spoiling the ending. While one doesn't realize it until the end, the story is very tightly plotted and executed with such precision that its almost impossible to discuss what makes this novel great from the events that occur throughout it.
