Overview

The House on Black Lake is an intoxicating journey into the underworld of Montreal society, where the power elite cavort with mystics and gypsies and create their own rules. This contemporary gothic suspense chronicles how a woman’s obsession with a charismatic man results in a collision with her own subconscious.

With her life falling apart around her, Alexandra Brighton escapes with young son, Samuel to Black Lake, and into the home of the man who has haunted her thoughts for years. But little is as it seems in the idyllic world of Ruth and Ramey Sandeley, where modern luxuries co-mingle with ancient rituals. As the summer solstice draws near, Alexandra finds herself lured into a world of mystery and seduction that compels her to confront the forces that have shaped her life’s path. Ultimately she must decide where this journey will lead, if she and her son are to survive.

A sensuous, romantic and dangerous odyssey into the unknown, The House on Black Lake will leave you breathless and begging for more.

Meet the Author

ANASTASIA BLACKWELL is an award winning author, actress, and producer. The genesis of her novel was an experience of isolation in a Victorian mansion on a deserted island similar to the one described in the novel. She draws on a degree in Sociology, Masters of Arts in Theater, and post graduate work in writing, production and performance to create stories that enlighten and empower women and men.

She produced a trailer for her debut novel, collaborating with some of the most talented filmmakers and actors in San Francisco and nationwide, while also directing and acting in the piece. A music video was also created with a haunting guitar solo that evokes the mystery and sensuality of a love scene from the book. Future interviews and video are in the works. The House on Black Lake is the first book of a trilogy, so there is much more to come. To learn more about the author, new projects and events, go to http://www.houseonblacklake.com/.

The House On Black Lake is a real page turner. Be taken away to the world of the unknow. You are transported into the underworld of Montreal. You will discover a different side to yourself. It is sensuous, erotic, romantic and dangerous. Please write the next novel!

An instant Classic. For mature fans of Twilight who are searching for a book about dangerous love. The book follows a woman's transformation from world weary divorced mom, to a powerful and sensuous threat to the dangerous men who surround her. Ramey Sandeley the antihero, is a contemporary Rhett Butler, sensuous art Andre Labat (who is half the age of heroine, Alexandra) and Georgie La Pointe, the supreme narcissist, will give Johnny Depp his next role. The characters are well defined, the plot intricate, yet easy to follow, and there are surprises at every turn. It is set in Montreal and its outskirsts and the backdrop is an exquisite choice for such a romantic, erotic and evocative book. I couldn't put it down. The book design is lovely and it feels sensuous to the touch. I am not the same woman I was when I began the journey. Can't wait to see the movie!
