Nevada: America's number one tourist destination... if you're DEAD!
After surviving the first days of the zombie apocalypse, Sheriff Penny Miller and her friends relax in what's left of Las Vegas. The Army asks Miller and her party to return to Crystal Place, the Top Secret base that was the birthplace of the zombies. Even though the mission is to recover data that may lead to a cure for the virus-and Miller herself-she's pretty sure it's a bad idea. The Army assures her that a crack team of mercenaries will be there to protect them every step of the way.
When Miller sees weird religious graffiti scrawled in blood on the concrete walls, she's sure their chances of survival have just dropped to damn near zero. Again.
Sometimes it sucks being right!

Harry and Steven have done it again. Tasked with retrieving intelligence from the Crystal Palace, AKA zombie country Sheriff Penny Miller sets off with her original band of misfits along with some new ones to complete the mission. One she has her doubts about from the get go, but is left with little choice but to go along. After all who will save her friends if she isn't there?? Filled with action and humor this book picks up where the first left off and doesn't disappoint in any way. The group finds themselves in hot water yet again when the arrive at their destination and discover the zombies are anything but gone. Along the way they meet some interesting characters, and fight more demons than they thought they would encounter. With Penny's quick whit and quick thinking can she manage to save the day again?? You will just have to read it to find out for yourself, but you won'd be disappointed. I just hope this isn't the end of Penny's adventures, because they are wild rides and great reads that will keep you at the edge of your seat and leave you begging for more.
So much more than just another sequel. The Hungry 2 picks up where The Hungry left off and amps the action WAY UP. Instead of a mere re-hash or continuation of the same story, the authors introduce a slew of terrifying and grotesque (in a good way) elements that almost make this sequel even more exciting than the first book (a tought act to follow).
The Hungry 2: The Wrath of God By Steven W. Booth, Harry Shannon (A book review by Ginger Dawn Harman) Without a pause Sheriff Penny Miller continues her journey of zombie slaughtering action. Sheriff Penny and her friends have been tasked with an assignment at the center of the zombie apocalypse. In order to bring about an antidote and end to the zombie virus they must return critical data. The Crystal Palace, the Top Secret base now is locked up. However, this tale is with cryptographic messages on the gate and Father Abraham’s Winnebago that serve as a warning and puzzle that will leave the reader anxious to solve it. With captivating twists and turns, the reader will immediately be enthralled in the novel! Booth and Shannon introduce an eclectic and interesting cast of characters who seem to have little, if anything, in common except for their location. Yet, the author is able to tie them all neatly together. Terril Lee, Scratch, Sheppard, Father Abraham, and Major Francine Hanratty are ready to take you to a whole new level as they banter and question the government versus each other with a little bit of religion complementing the tale. This co-authored foray of genius and wit entertained and satisfied this reader. One of my favorite lines by Sheriff Penny Miller was “dead as a Kardashian New Year's resolution come February." By using modern wit, the authors bring toughness to the main Protagonist and develop a reader/main character relationship that crates an emotional attachment. The Hungry 2: The Wrath of God is for those zombie enthusiasts who are looking for a quick fun read. A cinematic ending with lingering unanswered questions and plenty of zombies still lurking in the unknown sets the scene for the next installment. I highly recommend this book.
The wedding dress may be gone, but Sheriff Penny Miller is back. If you don't get the reference, then you haven't read The Hungry, a situation you truly ought to rectify ASAP. When last we saw Sheriff Penny Miller, she and a band of misfits had managed to get away from the Crystal Palace, the Top Secret base that was birthplace of the zombie apocalypse. Now, the military wants them to return, in an effort to retrieve vital information. Information that may lead to a cure or, in the wrong hands, could make things a whole lot worse. Penny doesn't want to do it, but when the Government lays a whole lotta money on the table and when everyone else opts in, somebody's gotta go to try and keep them all from all from becoming Zombie chow. To make matters worse, for Penny and her crew, they are burdened with a team of top notch military types, led by Major Francine Hanratty--dubbed Rat by her peers. They've been pulled from the middle of a firefight halfway around the world and for what? Zombies? They aren't too happy, either. No time is wasted getting into the action in The Hungry 2: The Wrath of God. I love the way the writers, Steven W. Booth and Harry Shannon give the characters fun dialog, "dead as a Kardashian New Year's resolution come February" and "If brains were leather you wouldn't have enough to saddle a June bug." being fine examples. There are more than a few delicious twists to keep you guessing, including what's up with "The WrATh of GoD!" they keep seeing written on walls here and there. True, if you only ready literary masterpieces, this might not be for you, but if you read for fun and if you're looking for a great summer read for that weekend at the beach, the lake, your cabin in the woods or even curled up on the sofa in your air-conditioned living room. This is the one, especially if you have a hankerin' for some Zombies. Considering I've noticed where the books are now being tagged as The Sheriff Penny Miller Series I wouldn't be surprised to see The Hungry 3 somewhere down the line, and believe me, that's a good thing.
