Overview

Vivian thinks she can control every aspect of a deadly game with her usual manipulations… but what if she can’t?

Seven vampires and seven werewolves pay to hunt a supernatural criminal across the cold, vast grounds of an Alaskan resort. The one to catch her, and live through the encounter, will increase their power by feasting on hers.

The tiny vampire they track is more than she appears, however. To escape a fate of twelve years in silver chains, she'll do anything to survive the weeklong excursion. This time, the darkness holds more than just the stinging bite of the Arctic—it holds death.

Journey along, in this next installment of The V V Inn series, for a wild ride as the tale is told through the eyes of all the new seethe members.

Warning: This book contains some explicit sex scenes and is not intended for readers under 18.

Editorial Reviews

Goodreads - Katrina Whittaker
Second book in the V V Inn series, this one slightly differntly set up to the last. I really enjoyed that each initial chapter starts with a different POV from each character. I found this gave the reader more depth, thought, and for us to get a gist of what the characters are like. A great second addition to the series I'm sure that will have you eager and flipping the pages, and other parts that will have you holding your breath!!! Sexy weres and vampires to tantalize your taste buds!

A perfect vacation, for a vampire

Where Vampire Vacation leaves off, The Hunt begins. After Ivan's demise, the plans for a rogue hunt begin and opens the door for the next chapter in Vivian and Rafe's supernatural resort.
The Ancients graciously send a rogue vampire to be hunted for a nominal fee. There are several takers and the games begin. Between the vampires, werewolves, Vivian's nemesis, the new members of Vivian's seethe and the ninja rogue vampire, Vivian's got her hands full for the course of this book.
The Hunt is definitely a book that is hard to put down. Between the tantalizing sex scenes that leave you squirming in your seat, action packed hunt and fights scenes, and all the espionage and conniving between old enemies and new foes, everything in this piece intertwines to make reading The Hunt a delight. As a twist in The Hunt, each seethe member reveals their own perspective of the plot as it quickly moves along, a challenge to write, I'm sure.
It makes me wonder, will the next chapter in Vivian and Rafe's life be a book about their vacation home? I can only hope!

T he Hunt is very different from the first book, Vampire Vacatio

T he Hunt is very different from the first book, Vampire Vacation. It has the same characters but instead of being mostly in Vivan’s head, we get into everyone’s head. Each chapter is from someone else’s POV. It bounces between the members in Vivan’s new seethe; Rafe, Jon, Drew, Asa, Paul and of course Vivan.

It sounds confusing but it’s really not. I actually loved the way we got to see this story from all different angles. And it allowed us to get a better feel for all the other characters. But with the way it was written you really had to finish up a chapter before you could put the book down or you could forget whose head you were in.

The Hunt has all the mystery and some of the sexiness that was in the Vampire Vacation. I say some of the sexiness only because there’s not as much sex scenes in it but that’s only because of the plot. Vampire Vacation was about Vivian and the gang at the Inn catering to the fun and fantasy needs of their guests. In The Hunt they are hosting a hunt where their guest has paid to hunt down a rouge vampire. So there’s more fighting and blood and less sex. But there is still hotness.

After reading The Hunt and seeing a set up for a future mystery involving Vivan’s sexy werewolf servant, Jon; I can’t wait to read Big Game. If you are looking for a sexy and snarky mystery I would recommend that you give this series a try.

    Excellent Sequel!

The Hunt is the second in the V V Inn series. We start off shortly after leaving Vivian and Rafe after they hunted a rogue vampire on the Inn's property. After that incident her quests have a desire to have their acclaimed hostess have a planned hunt of their own for a high level Tribunal Rogue at the V V Inn. This story is formatted different than Vampire Vacation, Each chapter is from a different characters POV, it rotates between five of the characters. One of which whom wasn't a main character in the first book. I felt this helped get a better scope of what was happening as the characters were not all together through this book, for apparent reasons....hunting the rogue. In this book things get continue to spiral out of control as the rogue is skilled in more ways then one, and many of the hunters are far outclassed in attempting to match their skills. Even with that becoming known to many, the challenge of the hunt is hard for most to resist. Some run into more then they can handle, which doesn't bode well in their favor, while others have better luck in hunting the rogue and facing off. Vivian is faced with her inner demons of being the master vampire and trying to not let her power and darkness take over again. She has a great deal of difficulty in realizing that she may need a seethe and others to help her, stubborn as she is and believing it to be solely her job to protect the guests and her seethe from more losses. She eventually realizes through a few of he seethe that they are there to help her as well, she isn't alone in this. Once she realizes things become crystal clear to her on how to handle the rogue. Rafe is by her side for much of the story and at times is the one who helps her clear her head and get back on track. He also helps her reason and not make rash decisions. He also realizes of of the seethe has eyes for Vivian and he wants to do something about it, but knows that Vivian would loose her best servant if he does, so he wisely keeps his mouth shut. This situation has a drastic turn later in the story which you have to read to believe. This story is a great continuation of the first in this series and if you liked the first, this one doesn't disappoint in the least. The characters are greatly developed and have a better sense of themselves. The plot is astounding and keeps you guessing. The villains are well thought out, very calculating and cold. A excellent sequel. A pure 5 from this reader and fan.

Intrigue, Murder, Sex - OH MY!

The story is well crafted and a marvelous follow up to the first - Vampire Vacation. The characters are rich and very developed. Viv and Rafe continue to amaze with their strong monogamous relationship that's HOTTER than HOT. Jonathan's tension with the pair and his own personal story pulls the reader in hard and fast!

There are a whole host of new characters that are introduced and they are interesting and add more intrigue to the story. My favorite is Emiko - the Villainess of the story. She's strong and powerful in her own right.

The pace is perfect. There's a driving pace to The Hunt. The story starts with a hunt, but really, who is hunting who? There's a power exchange in this story that is fascinating and intense.

The story is told from a shifting point of view. The style is different than most books, and allows you to see things from different characters' points of view. This adds a depth to the story that sometimes doesn't come across when there's just one point of view.

Ah and let's not forget the Ancients .. the manipulators.. what are they up to? I want to know and can hardly wait for the third book.

If you want a story that has great characters, an awesome setting and a story you can not put down, I highly recommend this page turner. I devoured this book, page by page, and you will too.

    Great 2nd Book

I fell in love with Dria aka Vivian and the bunch at the VV Inn in the first book and have only fallen deeper under their spell after reading the second book. I can't wait til number 3 comes out. If you are looking for a vampire book from a female point of view this one is it. Strong storytelling and a sexy premise. Way Cool!!!!

    Loved this second book.
The story telling was great and description well done. More characters were introduced and familiar ones were more developed into the story this time around. Which made for some fun moments & some spicy ones. Also loved that each chapter was a different character's point of view.

It was exciting in every sense of the word!
Can't wait for the 3rd book!!!

    Hostess for Hunting

First to start, 4 tiara wearing bats with an extra tiara out of 5 bats for the author.

The VV Inn is back for another go. Now that the vacations are over the hunt begins.

The first book introduced all the players and now they get to share their views as a new kind of big game hunt gets ready to take place. I love that although these are primarily vampire books, here we get to meet and see more of the weres (and it looks like they may even get to be a focus in the next book).

As always I love my normal favorites but in this book a new one is getting that title from me. Paul has always been interesting but the new developments in his new life have me really hoping he gets a lot more face time in the next book. Also I am very happy he didn't eat Bunny because I like her.

Wonderful read and I love the expansion of characters over the last one. Only character I personally didn't like well... Lets just say is no longer an issue :P

While the the masters away the wolves will play, I cant wait for the next book.

A great adult vampire story continues!
The way this book moves it creates fans if they are new to the series as well as continues the story lines from the first book! Some great twists and turns and some great puzzles to be solved along the way. The characters are seem real and have personalities that are complex and human (or should I say supernatural) The writing is consistent and the timing is in sync! Thanks CJ for another great book! Looking forward to the next one!!

    Great sequel!

This one was stellar, liked it even better than the first one, same dry funny humor, same witty dialoque but what was different was that got to see the story from multiple point of views!

I enjoyed Asa's point of view and well as Joanna's in the beginning - and having others like Paul, Rafe and Drew pitch in made the story more surpising, in adition to Viv's narration as well.

These books are funny and addictive, I know there are some short stories out for free grabs that are of the VV Inn world and I wouldn't mind at all reading those next!

C.J. Ellisson has a fun way to present stories, but has this nitch for the gruesom and dark as well, when Viv gets upset it's not pretty.

You'll like The VV Inn series if... you like your vampires powerful, intellegent and hot. ;)

Can't wait for the next in this series!!

I loved VV, and this installment was even better! The story is told from different characters points of view and really serves to flesh out their personalities and unique issues. I cannot wait to read more about these character's stories! Just enough humor, sex, mystery and suspense to keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. C.J.Ellison is my newest "favorite" author!

    A Fun Fantasy

I really enjoyed this book. The story pulled you right in from the beginning and, as in the fist book, Vampire Vacation, the characters are lively and fun (ie. not flat). Although I can't do many of the moves that Vivian can do, I still found them exciting to read. It's a Fantasy! And who doesn't want to get lost in a fantasy now and then?
It's really great to read an erotic book that has a good story to go with the good action. I'm really looking forward to the next installment!
