Focusing on the earnings of full-time workers in 118 occupations in 156 industries, this study analyzes jobs for workers with elementary school education, those with some high school, high school graduates, those with some college, college graduates, and workers with graduate training. Comparing net exports for 1977, 1982, and 1985, the analysis indicates that from 1977 to 1982, when the trade deficit was roughly stable, trade provided good jobs for workers in each educational group. From 1982 to 1985, when the trade deficit increased sharply, trade destroyed good jobs for high school dropouts and high school graduates. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
