A New Adult Romance from New York Times & USA Today Bestselling author, Kendall Ryan

Needing an escape from her past, Avery chooses a college where no one knows her. Keeping a low profile was the plan, falling for the intense frat boy, Jase wasn’t. Yet she can’t deny how alive she feels when he’s near. Even as common sense implores her to stay away, her body begs her to get closer.

Jase, numb from his own family drama, has grown bored with weekends fueled by nameless girls and countless bottles when he meets Avery. Helping her cope with her past is better than dealing with the bullshit his own life’s served up. Determined to drive away the painful secret she’s guarding, he appoints himself her life coach, and challenges her to new experiences. Getting close to her and being the one to make her smile are simply perks of the job.

But when Avery’s past boldly saunters in, refusing to be forgotten, can Jase live with the truth about the girl he’s fallen for?

I love Kendall Ryan books, they¿re always packed full of story a

I love Kendall Ryan books, they’re always packed full of story and sexy hotness!!  I was super excited for the release of The Impact of You but I seriously had no idea what I was in for as I very rarely read a synopsis and never read teasers.  WOW!!!  Seriously amazing read!!!  Not as scorching hot as some of Ms. Ryan’s other books but much more of an emotional read.  I do promise though that the sexual tension in this read will get you heated   My heart was working over time while I was reading The Impact of You!

Avery is trying to move on with her life and escape the ghosts of her past.  My heart ached for this beautiful girl who had to live with the repercussions of an error in judgement while she was still so young.  I understood Avery and how trusting she once was and I completely understood how the events of her past shaped who she was.  Jase is…. WOW!  I double-dog-dare you not to fall head over heals for this wonderful character  Suffering from his own issues in life, something draws him to Avery.  I honestly felt that they were two kindred spirits.  I loved both of these characters.

Kendall Ryan has tackled some very tough issues in The Impact of You and WOW did she ROCK it… seriously speechless!  I have to say that this has probably been one of my favourite Kendall Ryan books.  The story was real, the emotions it invoked were raw and I was completely engrossed!  For all there is a fair amount of angst I didn’t find it to be too over the top.  If you are looking for a read to get your heart beating and your pulse racing, I can assure you the sexual tension in The Impact of You is just what you are looking for, it was killing me… Fabulous build up!

The Impact of You is one read you will not want to miss out on.  Tackling real life issues tastefully with brilliant writing and amazing characters.  You will fall in love with characters and their story.    Nic ~ Flirty and Dirty Book Blog

    Quick, fun read

Really enjoyed the book but found it very similar to a story by Jennifer Armentrout called "Wait for You". Right down to character names.....

I had been looking forward to reading The Impact of You. I alway

I had been looking forward to reading The Impact of You. I always enjoy reading Kendall Ryan's work. She creates likable characters and stories that touch my heart. Now, I did have a few issues with Jase, but I did enjoy Avery and Jase's story.

This is Jase and Avery's story, but I really felt like it was more about Avery. She's trying to run from her past. In high school, she made some choices that weren't all that great. She trusted someone she shouldn't have trusted and that trust was abused. Now, Avery is trying to live very carefully. She's become very cautious in the choices she makes and the people she chooses to be around. Two of those people are Noah and Madison. These two are her best friends. They looked out for her and didn't want to see her get hurt. Avery's avoided getting involved with anyone, but when she meets Jase, she just can't seem to stay away.

Ok. Jase. I really liked Jase in the beginning. He was also dealing with some drama. His family life was complicated and as a result, he learned that his past playboy ways, were not as important as they used to be. So, this reformed player sees Avery and decides he wants more with this unique girl. I was good with the progression of their relationship. There were definitely some steamy parts between them and I appreciated that Jase was helping Avery become more confident in herself again. But the turning point for me with Jase was how he handled learning about her past. Now, I get it. I would be hurt if I was getting involved with someone and they didn't trust me enough to tell me about their past. However, I'm not sure that Jase's opinion would have been different had she told him. Maybe I'm wrong, and we'll never know. It irked me that he kept saying he didn't 'know' her, just because she didn't tell him about this event. Needless to say, I was disappointed with Jase's reaction. My feelings about him did make a slight turn around towards the end. He was there to support Avery through a big life changing moment and he was able to realize that his feelings for her were more important than what happened in the past.

Overall, I enjoyed the book as a whole. I was happy to see Avery learn to trust, fall in love, and be comfortable with herself. Let's face it, we've all made choices in the past that were less than stellar, but it's what you learn from those mistakes that makes you grow. I definitely felt like Avery grew from her high school experience, as well as her relationship with Jase.

    Quotes:
    ~"Fine, I'll do it."
    "Do what?"
He smirks. "I see no other choice than to become your tutor."
This time I'm the one laughing. "You want to be my human sexuality tutor? That's original. And not douchey at all."-Loc 586

~His expression grows dark, more serious as he leans in closer. "Baby, if you let me, I wouldn't come up for a week."
    Holy. Crap.-Loc 1543

The Impact of You is the story of a girl trying to run from her

The Impact of You is the story of a girl trying to run from her past, and boy who is struggling to find a direction forward. The story is not one that is new to realistic New Adult, but it does have a great character in Avery, the heroine.

The Impact of You features only two prominent characters, Jase and Avery. Avery is quiet and does not want to stand out in a crowd. We soon learn that Avery has a very good reason to not want attention, and this made me very sympathetic towards her. I don't know if her big secret is considered a spoiler, so I'll just keep quiet about that. I will say that it is something that is very relevant to teens in today's society, and I hate that she feels such shame about herself. I did like to see how Avery interacted with her two best friends, Noah and Madison, and wished they had been featured more in the story. I always love to read about good, healthy friendships. Avery's biggest push towards freeing herself comes from Jase.

Jase Owens seems like the good time guy on campus, but he has issues of his own, his family. Needing distraction, he decides to take Avery in and help her break out of her shell. But it's clear that he's really just wanting an excuse to be near her. I liked Jase at the beginning of the story. I liked how he wanted Avery to be happy and open. But...when Jase finds out what Avery's big secret is, he was a huge letdown. I know that Jase's reaction might be realistic, and partially understandable, but I just really expected better of this guy who'd been urging Avery to let go of her shame. And it's not like he was perfect by any means, either. Now, bear with me, because I know that I'm treating this as a real-life situation and real people, but I'm that kind of reader, okay? This is a personal thing of mine, but I really hate it when people/characters are unfairly judged or treated about something they did in the past that has nothing to do with the person who feels angry/hurt/offended. This especially bothers me when it is a female who is being ostracized for doing something guys do all the time. I did appreciate that Jase's change of heart, but I didn't feel that he actually earned her forgiveness. So, though she forgave him, I didn't.

Whew. So having said all of that, I did like The Impact of You.The best aspect to the story was Avery's journey of struggling through shame into acceptance, then onto full-out pride in who she is as a woman and a person. She eventually learns that she didn't need anyone's acceptance as much as she needs her own. THAT was a worthy message.

Another fantastic book by Kendall Ryan! I love every single word

Another fantastic book by Kendall Ryan! I love every single word this woman writes because she makes her characters relatable, and manages to incorporate everything I love in a good NA romance.

Jase is working through his own demons from his past. From appearances – he’s just a good-looking frat boy who sleeps around and lives a care free life. But there is so much MORE to Jase – he was every woman’s dream - sweet, protective, hilarious, & hot. He meets Avery and wants nothing more than to get to know her, by offering to be her ‘life coach’.

But what Jase finds when he starts to spend more time with Avery, is that she’s also dealing with her own demons and he’ll do anything to help her get past them.

Avery went through something pretty traumatic and wants nothing more than to bury her secret and move forward with her life. She decides moving away and keeping her distance from people is the route to go - but that secret will come back to haunt her and threaten her relationship with Jase.

The beauty of this story is the friendship that builds between Jase and Avery FIRST. This isn’t an insta-love. Jase genuinely likes Avery and wants to be her friend. He knows she’s guarded and hurt and instead of pushing her to get what he wants (although he’s definitely fighting his attraction to her), he sets out to just BE there for her. It is the sweetest, most romantic thing! Yes there is serious hotness between these two (because, let’s face it – Kendall Ryan KNOWS how to bring on the HEAT). Their love and friendship is what made this story so incredible. And it’s that suspense and build-up of sexual tension that will keep you turning the pages frantically!

I loved every minute of this book. I dropped everything I was reading when I got it and devoured it in 2 days. Kendall Ryan just has that ability to suck me in and fall in love with her characters. And you’ll find it impossible not to love Jase!

I seriously want to cry right now! I was so looking forward to

I seriously want to cry right now! I was so looking forward to this book! It was even one of my Waiting on Wednesdays! Unfortunately, I had so many issues with this book and things I didn't like. While I wasn't miserable reading it, I definitely did not enjoy it like I thought I was going to. I didn't care for the main characters and I definitely felt the plot was way too reminiscent of J. Lynn's Wait For You. I tried to get past that, but I couldn't as it turns out.

As I said, I didn't care for our main characters Avery and Jase and I really tried to. Avery was just a bland character in my opinion. She doesn't do the party scene and only ends up at Jase's fraternity party because of her two best friends. They want her to come out of her shell, but clearly warn her that Jase Owens is trouble. Avery comes across as naive at times and just didn't have a very strong voice in the novel.

Jase, on the other hand, I could not stand. He's your typical popular frat guy who has a reputation for sleeping around and being a player. However, after a family incident, he is reformed and now has his sights set on Avery. I thought I would grow to like Jase's character as the book wore on, but no such luck. In fact, I think I disliked him more and more as the book went on. Avery has a past that she has not felt comfortable opening up to him about, even after he confides in her about some of his family skeletons, and once he finds out he blows it way out of proportion. I understand he is hurt because he had to find out from someone other than her and he feels manipulated, but dude. You do NOT go and tell the girl's best friend her secret. SMH.

If he was really interested in having a relationship with Avery, he needed to set the record straight from the beginning with his ex-girlfriend/screw buddy, Stacia. Stacia is a leech. She latches on to Jase and while he 'pushes her away', it doesn't really help matters because she still comes around and flaunts herself in front of him and Avery. Not to mention Jase makes a BIG mistake while he was off being a baby about finding out Avery's secret , that I probably wouldn't have forgiven. Nope. This guy did not do it for me. Sure, him and Avery had some steamy scenes, and even had some sweet ones, where he wanted to take care of, but other than that, I just didn't feel the genuineness of their feelings for one another.

Again, this was just way too reminiscent of J.Lynn's Wait For You- shy girl with a past is afraid to break out of her shell socially, emotionally, and sexually and the notorious reformed playboy swoops in determined to make her fall in love with him. While it worked for J.Lynn, I don't felt it worked here.

This is the first book by Kendall Ryan I have read, and I doubt it will be the last- this particular book just didn't work for me, sadly. Had I liked the characters a bit more, I probably would have rated this a bit higher.

This was the first book i've read by Kendall Ryan and I know for

This was the first book i've read by Kendall Ryan and I know for sure I will be reading the rest of her books! i finished The Impact of You in just a couple hours. The book captivated me and stole my attention. Once i started reading I could NOT put the book down. It is a quick and easy read and it is so easy to connect to the characters. I highly recommend this book!

Jase is this bad boy any girl would fall for. Blonde hair blue eyes. Irresistible. And Avery falls for his charm and his down to earth personality. His troubled past makes him seem like a real guy and not some jerky frat guy. By looking into his relationship with his family, a connection is made to him and you can't help but root for him the entire time.

Avery is a troubled girl trying to escape her past. By doing so she closes herself off to her friends and doesn't really expose who she is, which is understandable. Through the trial of meeting her birth mother we learn more about Avery and how vulnerable she is becoming. The love between the two characters is undeniable and throughout the book I caught myself hoping the two would outlast all the drama and chaos surrounding them. The relationship they develop is real and the fact that their situations can be relate-able to people makes the book even better. I've been caught up with reading these cheesy love stories and romances and this book by Kendall Ryan is just REAL. And that bit of realness makes me love the book even more! Highly recommend it!

I love all of Kendall's books, and The Impact of You shows yet another side of her talent. You know her best for her sexy contemporary romance, and The Impact of You is her first new adult title. It's as sexy as her other books, but in a different way. The Impact of You is a tantalizing build, a simmering read full of burgeoning love and young lust and heat as Jase and Avery embark not only on a path to each other, but on their own self discovery as well. Be prepared to fall in love! (And to squirm in your seat if you read this on a plane!!)

I don't even know where to begin... At first, I thought this book had potential to be good but by the end, I was about to hit by head against the wall. I'm no prude but this "steamy romance" was a dud. The scenes between Jase and Avery were kind of rushed and involved too many sexual escapades. I felt the secret that Avery was holding was dumb. I thought there was going to be more substance to it. She acted way too innocent and clueless for someone who had a shady past. The story behind Jase's past was rushed and I wish the author would have built his character up more, instead of making him one dimensional. The book in general could have been developed more and I'm just disappointed I wasted $3 on this, when I could have spent it on a better book (ie. The Hunger Games)
