Part 1 recounts his search for better sleep, including tidbits about sleep research and somatic therapies; Krugman eventually adapted aspects of the Feldenkrais Method, which is designed to ease movement and improve general well-being, to create his Sounder Sleep System. After relieving his own insomnia with this combination of 18 slow, small exercises to relax the body, decrease stress, and lull one to sleep, he began training instructors and teaching seminars on the system. Part 2 clearly describes the exercises and illustrates them with black-and-white photographs. This book is not intended to treat medical conditions like sleep apnea or other clinical sleep disorders, but its exercises should help those plagued by garden-variety insomnia.
