The Irish Tenors [#1]

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Heather Phares
The Irish Tenors' 1999 self-titled live album captured the lilting harmonies of John McDermott, Anthony Kearns, and Ronan Tynan on a collection of nostalgic Irish standards. This Royal Dublin Society Main Hall recording includes solo songs by each of the Tenors along with trio performances, all of which feature orchestral backing. "Minstrel Boy," "Toora-Loora-Looral," and "Love's Old Sweet Song" are some of the trio's best performances, and John McDermott's "Voyage," Anthony Kearns' "Boolavogue," and Ronan Tynan's "Sweet Sixteen" are some of the album's solo highlights. My favorite band of all time is AC/Dc yet I've seen the Irish Tenors 3 times and going a 4th time in December. They are a great trio. I will see them whenever possible. See them if you have the chance!!! This cd shows not only their enormous talent(s) but their warmth and feeling for the music and each other

Irish Tenors in Dublin Favorite Album of All time

This, the first Irish Tenors album is the best sung most beautiful rendition of Irish songs that I have ever heard. I continue to listen to this CD year after year. Kearns, McDermott and Tynan seem to have been born to sing together.

Ronan Tynan is to be admired

I have nothing but admiration for Ronan Tynan after reading his history. His voice is amazing after all his lifelong difficulties. This is a wonderful album. I enjoyed it immensely.

    Top of the line

I got this as a gift from my grandma and love it. It was my first real exposure to vocal Irish music, and being very interested in all things Irish, I was taken with it at once. The songs are all pretty, particularly the ones by John McDermott. The ones I like the least and usually skip are ''Boolavogue'' and ''Only Our Rivers Run Free''. But out of twenty-one tracks, two isn't many to not be swept away with. It's not to say they are unpleasant - they just didn't trip my trigger. The others are superb however. :) One of my favourites is Anthony Kearns singing ''Darling Girl from Clare''. It has a very catchy rhythm and the tendency to stick in one's head for a long time. If I could find a pot at the end of the rainbow, I'd want this CD to be in it with the gold.

    My Irish Eyes are Smilin'

This CD is absolutely fabulous! Since I purchased it a few months ago,it has become my favorite. The voices of these three men will definitely steal your heart,Irish or not. I never tire of listening to them, and I'll have the fortunate opportunity to see them live in concert this St. Patrick's Day! I highly recommend this CD to anyone! You'll never regret purchasing it!!

    Magnificent!

My wife and I have viewed this concert 3 or 4 times on public Television; and each time we are enthralled by the magnificence and beauty of these three voices. The variety and content of their songs is touching nostalgic and whimsical.
