Overview

Typical of a Malice Domestic mystery in setting and tone, this novel takes place at what should have been an idyllic island retreat. Judge Baby Godbold, visiting her brother and his wife, finds herself in the midst of murder. Lily Lawrence, a beautiful woman with a somewhat tarnished reputation, is found stabbed to death on the beach after a party. The judge manages to insert herself into the investigation to the relief of the sheriff from the mainland. And she does so in the nick of time, for yet another murder takes place a few days later: a gay antiques dealer whose shop is on the island also is found dead. His partner is taken in for protection by Baby to the home of the dead woman, where she is temporarily living with Lilys sister Dolores, a forensic chemist, who has come from Dallas to clear up Lilys effects. Several high-powered men on the island come under Babys scrutiny, including a wanna be candidate for governor and Lilys former husband, himself an antiques dealer known for nefarious dealings, who is close by on the mainland. Had Lilys greed for more money to accommodate her lifestyle been the cause of her death? Judge Godbold ferrets out the truth, surprising the well-heeled community.

Meet the Author

A fourth generation descendent of Scandinavian pioneers to Iowa, I have sandwiched my writing into a busy life as a wife, mother of three boys, journalist, Arts Council Director, and more recently, college teacher. Along with my ten published e-novels, I have both poetry and short stories in literary journals and other publications. Since the 1960s I have been a resident primarily of Tennessee with a brief sojourn in Texas. My writing in earnest began with a thriller, The Moho Proviso, recognized by the Nashville Tennessean for its timeliness. I joined the Writers Group at the college where I worked and have continued to produce novels in the various genres, including my new Foxhill series, Flowers at Her Feet, Neighbors, Ever After, and the most recent one, Grace, all set in a fictional historic district in Nashville.

I can be followed at as well as on Facebook. Also, I have a blog: www.scandiasouth.blogspot.com/ and a Website: which I hope you'll visit.
