Pure Italian! I don’t know where to begin. I simply love pastas and pizzas and most Italian dishes. I have been wanting for some time to start making my own Italian dishes but was skeptical of the time required and complexity. I then stumbled on this book and I have been blown away. The recipes are amazing detailed and easy to follow and have been making my own pizza now for a while and I am over the moon. I would say give it a go and you won’t be disappointed.

Anyone who wants to cook a great Italian meal but gets intimidated should try the Italian Cookbook for Beginners. There’s a great selection of classic Italian dishes, and very detailed but easy to follow instructions. To quote the book’s introduction, all that’s needed is “mangia” – “enjoy your food,” in Italian.  The short but detailed sections on Italian culinary history, with simple menu planning, make this useful for novice chefs, and just plain fun for foodies.

If you are looking for a comprehensive cookbook that will walk you through the entire range of options in the Italian culinary world, this is a solid choice.  It holds high but not unreasonable standards in purchasing ingredients.  The recipes have an informal but detail-attentive tone, and are accompanied by interesting historical background on the dish’s place in the Italian-American food tradition.

SO much information in this book, I don’t even want to label it a “cookbook”. Great value!

I enjoyed reading about how Italian cuisine has evolved over the years and become a staple in American food! Before reading this cookbook, I viewed cooking Italian cuisine as a daunting and nearly impossible task for a person that normally doesn't frequent the kitchen! However, I am actually excited about cooking now and can’t wait to get to the grocery to purchase these everyday ingredients! The recipe for the Beef Spiedini sounds absolutely scrumptious!

As a beginning cook I was excited to read these clear and straightforward recipes. I feel ready to attempt them all. The author also takes time to explain traditional Italian foods (and the American versions we may be used to). I also appreciate the suggestions about when to buy a high-end ingredient and when a cheaper version will do.

I really enjoyed what this book had to offer.  I'm not very good at cooking but I wanted to try my hand at making one of my favorite types of food, Italian.  There are many recipes simple enough for beginners like myself.  Although the book is simple for the beginner, some of the recipes can get pretty in-depth with the various types of spices and sauces.  Overall I enjoyed this book.  I thought that it was both to the point and very simple to navigate.  Not only that, it offers a lot of history into the Italian food culture with each recipe.

This book also helps you find affordable ingredients that work just as well as the most hard-to-find, costly, ingredients. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to impress their family with delicious italian recipes!

This Italian Cookbooks is perfect for beginners.  Instead of just being a smattering of recipes like most cookbooks, this gives history and background on the different elements of Italian dishes.  It really educates you on how Italians eat, the various components that make up many of their dishes, and easy to follow instructions for a wide variety of dishes.  I recommend this if you are at all interested in cooking Italian food at home!

Beginners and experienced cooks could appreciate this cookbook which offers descriptive explanations and basic history of traditional Italian cooking ingredients and recipes.   It’s enjoyable and interesting; it’s interspersed with little facts about the ingredients.  What I like most about this book and its accessible format is the casual style the information is conveyed -- as if someone were giving it to you in conversation.   The descriptions and definitions are comprehensive without being overwhelming.  You can find out what you need to know almost at a glance, and you always come away with more than just the recipe.   The recipes lean toward a type of cooking for those who light to keep it light -- nothing too rich and it seems to be authentic – no frills. Great for anyone interested in the basics of very traditional Italian cooking.
