Overview

An original, bargain-priced “boxed set” of two novels of the Jeff Resnick Mysteries.

MURDER ON THE MIND
Jeff Resnick hardly knew his well-heeled half-brother. But after suffering a fractured skull in a vicious mugging, he reluctantly accepts the fact that he has a long and brutal recovery to face—and his closest of kin can provide him with the time and place to do it.

Now, Jeff is haunted by unexplained visions of a heinous crime—a banker, stalked, killed, and eviscerated like a ten-point buck. When Matt Sumner’s murder is discovered, a still-recovering Jeff realizes this was what he had seen. Jeff must not only convince himself of his new-found psychic ability, but also his skeptical brother Richard Alpert. Since Sumner was Richard’s banker, both brothers have a stake in finding out what happened. With Richard’s reluctant help, Jeff’s investigation leads him to Sumner’s belligerent family and hard-nosed business associates, none of whom want him snooping around.

When Jeff discovers a second victim, he knows he must relentlessly chase his quarry even if it means risking his brother’s life.

DEAD IN RED
Sometimes it seems like murder and mayhem follow Jeff Resnick, challenging his psychic “sixth sense” to solve crimes. Since the vicious mugging that changed his life, he’s tried to keep his unwanted gift in check. But when a bartender at his favorite watering hole is murdered, visions of a sparkling red woman’s high-heeled shoe and a pair of bloody hands linger in his mind–and hit too close to home. When Jeff’s older brother, Richard, last helped him with an investigation, it nearly cost him his life. Still, Richard is determined to tag along as Jeff is drawn into the seamy world of fetishes and drag queens to find a murderer before another life is taken.

Editorial Reviews

RT Book Reviews
Murder on the Mind: A high-powered drama filled with interesting characters that add dimension to a tightly paced story with a good kick at the end.
Library Journal
Bartlett has a deft touch and makes psychic abilities very real.
Midwest Book Reviews
DEAD IN RED is an engaging paranormal amateur sleuth starring a likable protagonist and his brother and brother's girlfriend who want him safe. The story line is fast-paced as Jeff seeks the dazzling red shoe that he believes will lead them to the culprit. Although the whodunit is well written and fun as is Jeff's talent that seems to place them in trouble not keep them out of trouble, it is the relationship between the siblings that make this a special whodunit.

I really enjoyed this series of 5 books.  I just finished the last and I miss Jeff & Maggie and Richard & Brenda so much that I am thinking of purchasing the novellas that Bartlett
wrote in between each book.  These books are well written and you find yourself so caught up like you know them personally and want to protect them and root for them.  THere is mystery
psychic feelings, romance, love, suspense........really enjoyed these books.

    Good Read

    I
1st in the series of Jeff Resnick stories. Jeff, an out of work insurance investigator, is mugged and when he comes to he has developed visions. The book sets the series up, how Jeff handles his newfound psychic abilities and how he starts a new life in Buffalo living with his half brother. Looks like Jeff will be solving many more murder mysteries in the future! Will read more, a nice little mystery series with a dash of supernatural.

VERY GOOD! This double set was a great way to start this series

    VERY GOOD!

This double set was a great way to start this series. I got a good feel for the author here and got a good start into the series without having to pay too much. I will definitely be purchasing the next books in the series. I like the twist to the typical "murder mystery" by having the investigator using a "sixth sense" to solve the murders. Poor Jeff is still figuring out how to make his visions work and use them to solve cases.

Jeff Resnick is my kind of hero. A little flawed, but still one of the "good guys." I like that his brother is a little more practical, and as such they balance each other out beautifully. These are quick reads that kept my interest throughout. There is just the right amount of romance, mystery, and suspense mixed together to make a great read.

Thanx to Ms. Bartlett for this series. Cannot wait to read the next! :~)
