    Couldn't love it more!

This story captured my attention from page one. Not only does Melody do a fabulous job of nailing down the way a teenager thinks and reacts to their circumstances and peers, the "lesson" in this book is something that is, sadly, so overlooked today. A thoroughly enjoyable read. I look forward to passing it along to my teenage nieces for their enjoyment.

    Cute

The Jerk Magnet was a cute, interesting look at what happens when a young girl goes from a geek to a hotty, and how it changes her life.

Most girls, might say that if they could be as hot as the other girls in school, they wouldn't turn into those mean girls. We think we will be just like we were before, but it doesn't always turn out that way. Chelsea, always thought of herself as a geek, she even thought her and Dracula had something in common, they both hated mirrors. Then her soon to be step-mother helps her transform from a plain Jane to the girl all the guys want to love.

At first Chelsea is very uncomfortable in her new skin, she was never use to guys taking notice, but it doesn't take long for it to start making her feel good. Chelsea didn't realize being pretty would gain the attention of ever teenage jerk around, being pretty does have a downside after all.

The one guy that Chelsea would like to have some attention from though doesn't even act like she exist, so how can she get his attention?

The Jerk Magnet, deals with an issue that a lot of young ladies struggle with as they are growing up. Can your outer beauty, corrupt your inter beauty, or can you still be just as beautiful on the inside as on the outside.

It was a fun, teenage Christian novel and I would recommend it to anyone who has teens.

    I LOVED THIS BOOK!

    Review by Jill Williamson

Chelsea’s dad drops two bombs on the same night.
    1. He has a new job and they’re moving! 2. He’s getting married!

    Woah.

At first, Chelsea is overwhelmed in a negative way. Can’t say that I blame her! But her future stepmom starts to grow on her when she gives Chelsea a live-changing makeover. When Chelsea starts school, it’s like she’s a completely different person—at least that’s how people are treating her. She’s attracting all the wrong guys, and the one she really likes won’t even talk to her. What’s the deal?

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Seriously. At first I thought it was just your regular girl-gets-makeover-and-her-life-becomes-amazing book. I was thrilled to be so wrong! Melody Carlson wrote a great, thought-provoking story about the way we tend to stereotype people based on how they look. This is a wonderful story for all ages, but I highly recommend it for all teen girls. It will really make them think.

*I received this book free for review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

    Fun read for teens

When this book arrived at our house, my daughter scooped it up immediately. A day later she returned with it and plea for the next book. Melody Carlson is quickly becoming one of her favorite authors.

    Here's more from my daughter:

What if beauty is more than just skin deep?

Chelsea Martin is a teenager who blends in and is tired of it. She wants to be noticed, but isn't sure how to make that happen. In steps her future stepmother with the expertise and her dad opens his wallet. The next thing she knows, she's going shopping, her old clothes are in the trash, and her eyebrows are waxed. She's gone from plain to jaw-dropping, a transformation that changes her life in more ways than she anticipated. The girls start ignoring her while the guys start gawking. She's not sure she likes the transformation.

After she's moved to California and made a friend, she and her friend hide their identity at youth camp. Chelsea transforms back into her original self with her wallflower ways. She learns that beauty is so much more than skin deep...it goes to who you are.

I enjoyed reading this book because it was filled with humor. At the same time Chelsea made lots of mistakes as she worked through her transformation. She learned to moderate her changes as she learned who she truly was. There are lots of lessons in that as we learn how to become who we really are.

    Good

Im in the middle of reading right now. So far its really great but chelseas character has some narcasistic tendencies that as a person who was a "wallflower" her entire life wouldnt have. Bu that is the only complaint about the book.

The Jerk Magnet by Melody Carlson

Overall, this book was pretty good. I loved the main character and her stepmom. The plot wasn't very strong though- it was basically this girl gets a makeover and all of a sudden jerky guys cstart crushing on her. The end has an interesting twist. I think this book is a great, easy summer read.
Other books i reccomend by Melody Carlson are the Carter House Girls series and the Runway/Fashion books with Paige (I forgot the name of the series). Thanks!

    Well done author!

This book is so amazing! The way that chelsea changes is really incredible and it also gives us a few tips about our wardrobe in the story. On top of everything, it is free, how better can this book get!

    Very amazing book

When chelsia changes her geeky self to a new beautiful and popular self she gets lots of attetion that she has never gotten before. She attracts boys but all of them are jerks. The boy that she really likes does does not know she even exists because of her new self. Will she change from all popular to her geeky self for the boy of her dreams?
This is an amazing book. The author really understands tweens and how they think and what the want to do. I think this book is a good lesson about being yourself and that popularity isnt the best thing in tye world. I would recomend this for all ages but it would appel more to 12, 13, and 14 year olds. Being a mother i totally recomend this!
