Overview

A detailed description of this book is given at in Russian language since the book is written in this language. The English-language title of the book is "The Jews and their role in our world: personal journey to discovering Jewish identity".
The book is not a compilation and analysis of existing religious and scientific conceptions of what constitutes the Jews, or how they get there and what they do. All these concepts are described by the rabbis and religious philosophy scholars in a variety of published books. This book is the result of a life-long journey of the author in an attempt to find an answer to another crucial question of Jewish existence: what the Jews are inspired to do (by God, history, nature, or by their own imagination) in the huge non-Jewish world where they live. The book describes the author's findings, which may be of interest to all intellectual people - Jews and Gentiles.

Meet the Author

Author's biography.
Since the book is written in Russian language, here is given a very short version of the bio of the author in English. The complete biography is given in the Russian language web-site www.jewish-intellectual-self-identification.com
Dr. Vladimir Minkov is a scientist in the field of optimization of power systems for various purposes, published over a hundred papers and books in this area. Two books, published in collaboration with his colleagues, are a kind of crowning his scientific creativity. They are "Automated systems of economic management of power plants" in Russian, which was published in the early 1970's and was one of the pioneering works in the Soviet Union on this subject, and "Nuclear Shadow Boxing" in English, published in 2006 in the U.S., which presents the most complete analysis of the scientific and technical nuclear standoff between the U.S. and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. In his research the author has consistently focused on the human factor, and this led him to write this book, which is analyzing not a world of technical systems but a world of "human systems" and its biblical part - the Jewish people from the viewpoint of their identification.
