Being new to digital photography, I wanted a book that not only gave me useful knowledge of photography, but how to use the modes, lighting, etc. on my digital camera. This book is an easy, but informative read. The pictures are outstanding and helpful. I now understand my camera and the basics of taking a good picture under any circumstance. This book has been a joy to read and I would highly recommend it to those learning digital photography. I now take colorful and sharp pictures, whether in sun, shade or indoors.

With great verve and humor, Jeff Wignall has created a masterpiece. No more do we have to endure painfully dull and difficult guides that focus only on the technicalities of digital photography. From cover to cover, Jeff not only enlightens and educates but entertains with true-to-life anecdotes. This book should be in every photography enthusiast's library. A joy indeed.

I read this book from cover to cover because I was having so much fun. 'Joy' is packed with great information about digital photography and is so enjoyable to read that you can start at page one and read it straight through as if it were a novel. The bonus for me was that I learned a lot of digital photo tips along the way. Truly a joyful experience!

It's been a long time since I've had so much fun reading a how-to book. Jeff Wignall's love for photography and his passion for explaining digital photography to we amateurs leaps off every page. The photos, which are gorgeous and intriguing, cover a wide enough range of subject matter to apply to anyone with a camera. Wignall has a special gift for bringing intimidating technical matters down to earth. His writing is crystal clear and casual, as if he were talking to us in a sidewalk cafe. Anyone who's been taking pictures the old way has no more excuse to avoid digital. In a colorful step-by-step approach with personality and humor, Wignall guides us through all the stages of mastering digital photography. He reveals juicy trade secrets of the pros, and explains basic camera theory. This one-book classroom in the art of taking great pictures is clearly destined to become a classic.
