Overview

My name is Marina Carpenter, and I am divorced. I never in a bazillion years thought I would have to utter those words about myself. I suppose nobody thinks they will go through the nightmare of divorcing when they are fresh-faced, madly in love, and newly married.

Fern, my BFF, thought it would be a good idea for me to work through my hurt feelings by writing in this journal. Well, I already know how I feel about all of this...cheaters, loneliness, and divorce all majorly suck wind.

Maybe I need a hot, young, motorcycle-riding stud to help me forget this overwhelming sadness for a bit. Yes, I think a steamy fling with a tourist, who is visiting my little corner of paradise, is precisely what will nudge me out of this slump. I'll just need to remember that it's a temporary dalliance. No problem...right?

P.S. If you haven't read Fern's diary, be sure to take a peek at it too. It's free!

http://www.annomasta.weebly.com/free-copy-of-aloha-baby.html

These bios are generally rather dry, so I thought I'd shake up the format a little bit. Here are ten not-so-interesting tidbits about me:
1. I despise whipped cream. There, I admitted it in writing. Let the ridiculing begin.
2. Even though I have lived as far south as Key Largo, Florida and as far north as Maine, I landed in the middle.
3. If I don't make a conscious effort not to, I will drink nothing but tea morning, noon, and night. Hot tea, sweet tea, green tea - I love it all.
4. There doesn't seem to be much in life that is better than coming home to a big dog who is overjoyed to see me. My other family members usually show significantly less enthusiasm about my return.
5. Singing in my bestest, loudest voice does not make my family put on their happy faces. This includes the big, loving dog referenced above.
6. Yes, I am aware that bestest is not a word.
7. Dorothy was right. There's no place like home.
8. All of the numerous bottles in my shower must be lined up with their labels facing out. It makes me feel a little like Julia Roberts' mean husband from the movie 'Sleeping with the Enemy,' but I can't seem to control this particular quirk.
9. I love, love, love finding a great bargain.
10. Did I mention that I hate whipped cream? It makes my stomach churn to look at it, touch it, smell it, or even think about it. Great - now I'm thinking about it. Ick!

The Keys to My Diary—Marina by Ann Omasta is a spin-off from her hilarious The Keys to My Diary - Fern . Marina Carpenter takes her best friend Fern’s advice and starts keeping a diary/journal as a way to process her feelings about her divorce. Fern’s diary will have you laughing out loud, and Marina’s diary will have you cheering her transformation in the first year after her divorce. Marina walked away from her cheating husband, Frank. She didn’t fight for the house because she just wanted out! Marina gets the trailer in the divorce, and she makes that her home. She is not a high-maintenance woman, so this tiny space is tolerable. She dolls it up, and settles into life in the trailer park. Marina’s diary is about her exploration and growth after her failed marriage. I love that Marina is trying all the activities that she put on a shelf because her ex-husband didn’t support her in pursuits. Whether it is something small, like getting a dog, or a big task, like getting her captain’s license, Marina is going for gold. While still feeling a little downtrodden over her failed marriage, she sets out to enjoy the rest of her life. One of Marina’s new goals is to have simple enjoyable flings since marriage didn’t work out for her. She doesn’t count on falling head-over-heels in her first fling. Their sweet-as-cherry-pie relationship brings a lot of joy to Marina’s life. It’s too bad that Gus is only a long-term visitor to the Florida Keys and their relationship has an end-date. Is Marina destined to have her heart broken again or will she use that captain’s license to steer her life in a different direction? Check out Ann Omasta’s latest novel to find out!
