The Kids Are All Right

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - James Christopher Monger
The 17-track soundtrack for director Lisa Cholodenko's Sundance hit The Kids Are All Right offers up a nice, eclectic playlist stocked with copious amounts of indie rock Deerhoof, MGMT, Fever Ray and classic rock Joni Mitchell, David Bowie, Leon Russell, as well as a little bit of R&B Betty Wright, jazz Gabor Szabo, and punk X. It's a typical post-Quentin Tarantino/Wes Anderson genre-fest to be sure, but it makes for a surprisingly coherent listen, and could kick open some doors for listeners used to soundtracks saturated with Hollywood clichés like "I Will Survive" Gloria Gaynor and "Kung Fu Fighting" Carl Douglas.
