As with all of Mr. James books they are gut wrenching can't put down thrillers that make you want to turn the page even if you are only going to get three hours of sleep for the next workday.  In true style the method of telling the story by short chapters conveying specific acts or thoughts grabs the reader and doesn't let go.
The King was as I expected it to be.  I finished in two weekdays and really thought about losing more sleep just to finish it.  The spunkiness of Tessa's character is so fitting for a teen and the portrayal is spot on.  The complexity of Pat in the story is always there and leads to the connecting plot twist in The King to bring it to a precipice just before Mr. James yanks the mountain out from under you.
The only suggestion I would add is the development of Basque.  What drove him and his emotional state when making choices in the book would have been a nice addition.

    Great story

Steven James is my favorite author! I can't wait to jump into the latest in the Patrick Bowers series. I love the characters and wonder what's next. This is perfect timing for my vacation read.

Steven, thank you for what you do, it is a God given talent!!

Everyone...do yourself a favor and read everything he's written. One of my favorites is Quest for Celestia, great story.

Steven James is the author of five previous high-octane thriller

Steven James is the author of five previous high-octane thrillers that fall in The Bowers Files series. His masterful writing captures the attention of publications and readers everywhere. He weaves a wicked story and leaves his readers in utter shock with the turn of each page. He weaves his web of conspiracy with his word usage and his ability to tell stories that are not easily forgotten. Just like his five previous Bowers Files novels, The King grips the readers and keeps them locked in it's grasp until the very last word. Steven James is a master at storytelling and he is also a master at leaving readers wanting more.
