Overview

Trapped on Earth since the fall of Lucifer, Prince Rioghan has left thousands of broken hearts in his wake, and he wants Lily's to be the next. His father, the High King of Fairies, expects Rioghan to behave like the royal he is, but the challenge Lily presents is too inviting. Accustomed to living in her famous mother's shadow, Lily guards her heart behind a prickly exterior. The harder she resists, the faster he falls, until she becomes the very center of his existence. When Rioghan chooses love over the power of the throne, he infuriates his father and upsets the age-old balance between good and evil. A battle is coming—a fight to the death for true love, honor, and The Kingdom.

When I first heard about the subject matter of this book, I thought it was unique in and of itself. You always hear about stories of people who shouldn't fall in love but do, nevertheless. However, Ms. Barry's approach to this subject was unlike any I have ever read. I immediately fell in love with Rioghan and Lily. The beautiful scenery of Ireland makes a magnificent backdrop to the magical story of the unlikely pair. I was totally transported to that world and was unable to put the book down until I finished it, and when I did finish it, I was very eager to hear more of their story. I totally identified with the headstrong Lily and found myself getting intrigued with Rioghan right along with her. I would recommend The Kingdom to anyone who enjoys magical worlds, unlikely romances, beautiful imagery, or even just mythical beings.
