Children's Literature
This is a book about knees. That's it, just knees. Although not quite as lively as "The Foot Book"--a difficult act to follow--it still manages to be entertaining. Children who are just learning to read will appreciate the small vocabulary, while the rhymes will appeal to kids being read to. "We use [knees] each and every day to skip, to run, to dance, to play, to mow the lawn, to pitch the hay . . . Do fish have knees? No, none at all, whether they're big or whether they're small." The colorful illustrations are cheerful and bright; every page has at least one drawing on it, showing all kinds of people (and a few animals) using their knees. 2005, Bright & Early Books/Random House, Ages 2 to 4.—Sara Lorimer
