I will add another person to this list that achieved great things. For now, I will just refer to him as "The Knowledge Catcher". In his story, you will find many parts of your story, of being a perfect example of a common person who struggled to become an uncommon success. From the absolute humblest of beginnings, a migrant worker, with minimal formal education, "the catcher" found himself deeply yearning for "something" in his twenties.
Discovering that "knowledge" is the key to understanding the world around you, and more importantly, to understanding yourself, he began to "catch". Tired of the routine of "field life", and recognizing that time will not stand still; daily he became more restless and began to use his intuitive connection to people and the daily application of his books to start his journey to knowledge catching. One of his books, the Bible, was a guide he used to keep faith in himself, and to provide a spiritual certainty, when life and its challenges became uncertain.
Our "catcher" began to usefully live in the present while preparing for a prosperous future. His explanations of how difficult migrant life can be, coupled with trying to learn about other cultures and ideas is nothing short of amazing.
He proves that discontentment, not contentment, was the catalyst that sparked his thinking in new "directions" - focused and positive. These "directions" helped him maintain an attitude about life that was uncommon among his peers.
"The Catcher" not only learned to overcome seemingly impossible circumstances, but learned how to teach others to acquire knowledge that would help them to achieve a better life. He learned how to be a leader by helping whoever wanted this knowledge, particularly by teaching workers how to learn and use the English language. He knew that speaking only their native language, mostly Spanish, was a limiting factor in communicating, especially outside the fields.
The truly unique part of the "catcher" is that he not only focused himself for years to acquire the necessary knowledge, but also learned how to apply this knowledge for the benefit of himself, his family, and the workers in the fields.
With personal philosophy of "love your neighbor as yourself", the "catcher" shared his knowledge and thus multiplied its effect. His ability to understand the motivations of other people in other cultures helped him in learning to communicate better.
He describes several "lively" characters (both inside and outside of the fields) who affected his attitude and his thinking. These mentors were particularly effective at helping the "catcher" to seek a better life and fulfill his life mission. This deeply affected his thinking which obviously affected his thoughts about life and what it offers to each person.

The author tells the story in a way that is easy to follow. Through the eyes of the main character you are taken on a journey. This journey begins in the fields picking crops and through knowledge catching, the main character is able to realize there is so much more. I think everyone will be able to relate to the main character and apply the lessons he was able to learn to their own life. I highly recommend this book !

This book held my interest through out. It had basic & complex steps to follow for a success planning life style. I can see myself reading it repeatedly, as well as making notes in it for reference. I was so impressed with its value, I ordered 8 more as gifts & will undoubtedly do that again. Any young person starting out should have this in their permanent collection. It was a quick read, while filled with KNOWLEDGE!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
