Meet the Author

Roberts was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was educated in both America and England, where he received his BA (equivalent) majoring in Economic History. He has since received his Doctorate in Divinity and an Honorary PhD for his work in clinical research.

He returned to America in 1990 and made his home in Hot Springs, AR. The Institute for Neurology and Neuroscience Research was co-founded by Roberts where he served as Executive Director. Roberts joined the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) where he was appointed Mid-South Regional Director and Head of Cooling Research and Development. He has worked in clinical research projects with these organizations, NASA and with the neurohypothermia industry as a consultant.

At the same time as this career there has been a second, perhaps even more interesting one has developed. Roberts started fencing in his early teens, he then found a live blade teacher in college. From this point on he has been heavily involved in period sword work. He has worked with living history groups in England, Germany, Denmark, and Iceland. He has also appeared in two television series and television historical documentaries.

He continues his work as swordmaster and teaches dueling and weapons techniques of the 17th Century in several states. He is active in the development of living history for this period with links to renaissance faires and living history projects in many states. He also owns a replica 17th century Prussian inn at the Four Winds site.

He is president and founder of Musqueteers and Maidens L.L.C., an umbrella organization for 17th Century Live blade/living history groups in America. The group has members and affiliates from coast to coast with an inventory that includes several cannon, period tents, carts, wagon and firearms. This group has recently made three TV commercials that were written, produced, and directed by Roberts. The commercials have been nominated for a prestigious nation award.

He has recently been immortalized as his Kozak character by the Assault Group Miniatures Company in their Ukrainian Kozak range.
