Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
“I normally don’t gobble my food. . . . But during a mid-November lunch in Savannah, Georgia, I shamefully lost control. And wound up ingesting my meal of the year. . . . Paula Deen’s home-style Southern menu at The Lady & Sons turned me into a ravenous beast unminded of manners, cholesterol, North-South diplomacy, and the dropped jaws of my companions. . . . If someone had reached for my plate, he’d have lost a limb.”

Polynesian Chicken Wings

3 pounds chicken wings
1 cup pineapple preserves
12 cup sherry
12 cup frozen orange juice concentrate
12 cup soy sauce
12 cup packed brown sugar
14 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger

Chop off the wing tips; discard them, or save them for making soup. Cut each wing into 2 pieces. Place the wings in a glass baking dish. Combine the remaining ingredients and pour this mixture over the wings. Marinate overnight in the refrigerator. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Remove the chicken wings from the marinade and place them in a shallow pan (a jelly-roll pan is perfect). Pour 1 cup marinade liquid over. Bake for 1 hour.

Paula earns an A+ for the best Baked Speghetti casserole ever! The Recipe is easy to follow and the sauce smells wonderful while cooking. Put all the other ingredients together in your baking dish, pop it in the oven and wah-lah you have a wonderful meal for many! Everyone must try this one, even the fussiest eater will goble this one up! The kids in my preschool beg for this dish often!! You Go Paula!!!!

This book may be a cook book but very inspirational. The introduction had me in tears. I didn't know what Paula Dean went through before she became very successful. And what great sons she has. I would recommend this cook book. Great & easy recipes. Thanks so much Paula & Sons

Truly a cookbook for the everyday cook or home chef. Her insights into practical values is refreshing and helpful. It's so nice to hear her use the common sense of her family and share it with us, Thank you Paula!

Paula takes cooking to an all new level. Her dishes are simple, but elegant and very tasty. Like she says if you can get past the butter and sour cream you have most of her recipes licked...and that is the best part. She is outstanding and so is her book.

This is one of my all-time favorite cookbooks. Makes me long for home (in Georgia!). All the recipes I've tried are fantastic.

I'm a recent college graduate and newly married. My husband's mother is a wonderful Southern cook, and I never thought I could make anything near the delicious Sunday meals I'd had at her house--until I tried Paula Deen's recipes. Not only are the recipes just as good as my mother-in-law's, but they're easier and faster. Everthing I've tried out of this cookbook is so yummy. I definately reccommend this book for anyone looking for down-home recipes--no matter their skill level.
