Meet the Author

Born and brought up in southern-India with flip-flop weather all year round, I now reside in Duluth, Minnesota, where the local pastime is fighting frostbite. The journey and the experiences have been adventurous to say the least.I'm straight (despite my love for Chick-Lit's) and a hopeless romantic among the last, and possibly the last of my generation. When I'm not reading (usually a contemporary-romance comedy or thriller), I'm either cheering for the Vikings (or the twins) or writing software.It wasn't until this late January that I gave in to the desire to write my first novel, The Last Strand. The desire mainly grew from the frustration caused by reading an overwhelming amount of predictable plot-lines that certainly don't help the stereotypes about the Chick-Lit genre.I firmly believe in the quote that “If there's a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it” by Toni Morrison and use it as a constant motivation to write about characters who are unpredictable and witty, in ways that strive to make (me and hopefully) the readers smile.Besides my parents and friends, I love my elder brother, who currently serves in the U.S. Army. He is my hero and my major inspiration onto this path that I had never considered before.

    First: I devoured this book in one night ~ so right there you know I liked it! Second: This book left me smiling all goofy until I went to bed, so again, this means I liked it! Third: If an editor gets their hands on this book and revises it I will definitely be upgrading my stars to 4!
    If you are like me and love romantic comedies, Chic Lit, and steamy hot love scenes you will enjoy The Last Strand. Van Krishna knows how to build solid characters, and I liked the comedic feel to the dialog ~ maybe I just really liked the characters personalities... not sure, but there were moments I literally laughed out load. The back and forth pov was good for me, and did I mention that there are some sizzling love scenes? Ooh ya baby!

    This story had a unique idea and I couldn't wait to read it. While there was still a great story aspect, the follow-through felt lacking. There were parts that were really good and then parts that were somewhat confusing. The characters seemed almost bi-polar and it was hard to follow the plot. For the most part it made sense, but there were random sections that seemed out of place.
    Liz is a girl who experienced a family tragedy and decides to move away for college and start fresh. When the story was from her POV, she seemed almost naive and innocent. When the story was told from Nick's POV, she was kind of mean and definitely not so innocent. They both really like to yell randomly. Nick was a bit more together than Liz, but still seemed bi-polar. The guy we learn about from Liz's POV is kind of a dick and cocky, whereas from his own POV he's nice and actually protective. There was just a disconnect between the two POV's.
    The story starts out with some chaos and it then jumps back a few months to when it all began. The beginning portion was a bit rushed and assumed you knew more than you did. Once it went back to the past it was a bit easier to follow. Time did move strangely to get back to the present in my opinion. It felt like it was going really slow, but then it seemed like it was going fast. It didn't move very smoothly and I had hoped for more. There were also certain people/events brought up that were never fully explained or brought up again (i.e. the boyfriend being gay).
    Overall I loved the twist with the added suspense/thriller aspect. It was definitely different from the typical NA romance that you find available right now. I just wish the follow through had been better. I am interested to know if there's more in this story and also more by this author. He certainly has potential.for books in the future.

    Loved it

    I really enjoyed Liz and Nick's story. The back and forth bantering, immediate attraction, and super sexy scenes made me forget about the missing words and grammatical errors scattered throughout this book. I sure hope there will be a book two since this one ended quite abruptly. 185 pages

    I LOVED this book! I really liked all the humor between the characters as well, I think that was my favorite part.
    Nick and Liz meet in college and have an instant connection. Liz goes back home after she finds out some distressing news. Back in her hometown, she starts being followed and shot at. Then there is Nick who is like her knight in shinning armor coming to her rescue. Will they be able to find out what's going on and keep Liz safe, or will the person after Liz finally accomplish their goal?
    I really hope there is another book to this! I would love to see what happens next in the lives of these crazy people :)
