Overview

A Dystopian Future

Two centuries after the collapse of America, one man knows the terrible truth.

Connor Eliott is driven to prevent the doom he knows is coming, but first he must do the impossible...stay alive until he can escape from the front lines...the blood-soaked fields of central Pennsylvania, where the Alliance and the Feds have waged war for 200 years.

Connor has one ally. On a battlefield where a soldier's life expectancy is measured in weeks, Charlie Six is an anomaly - an infantryman who has survived for four decades. Charlie pulls no punches, teaching the new recruits how to stay alive in an unsurvivable war. But there's one question he can't even ask himself...is there such a thing as hope, or is it a fool's dream?

This is the story of Charlie Six, and the beginning of Connor's quest to save humanity from a dark and terrible future.

The Last Veteran is a novelette of approximately 10,000 words and the first installment of the Shattered States series.

This is a dark and violent story containing harsh language and situations. It is not suitable for children or anyone who would be offended by this.

Storyline was abrupt. It was over before it actually really got started. Jury is still out on this one, waiting on next book.

I disagree with the negative reviews. This short story of hopelessness really needs to be filled out in a full story. This writer has skills to complete the story and I hope he does, the potential for a great series or novel is apparent. Don't let the opportunity pass Mr. Allen.

This is not a book. Not even a short story. It is just a bunch of sentences that are repeated!

This is less than the free sample you would get with a normal book and currently with nothing following. I would rate it No stars if I could. It is in its defence well writen and leaves you wanting to read more. But there is no more and what ghere is is not worth $3. On my nook each page is actually 2 pages so its 53 pages long, and normally its the other way round , i turn 2 pages to go up one page number . By that reconing this book will end up costing over $30 if i bother getting the next chapter and if it gets writen. I like this author and i bought this based on his other works . The quality is goid but the quantity is sadly lacking.

Short but fun. Set up a great universe. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Do not spend $2.99 on this book 106 pages 1 hour to read. If this is a continuing story I hope the rest of the chapters are free because I already spent to much on the first one.
