Timeless music by a master. It's hard to believe that he was unwell during his residency at Keystone Korner, but the beautiful liner notes by Ben Fong Torres make it clear that he was. Nevertheless, throughout the 8 CDs in this box, Bill Evans, Joe LaBarbera and Mark Johnson play at the pinnacle of what we look for in jazz trio. It may well seem excessive to consider buying such a large box set, but it'll last forever so go ahead!

It's a good thing the tapes were rolling while Bill Evans was in residence at San Francisco's Keystone Korner during the fortnight before his death.
