Meet the Author

MARY ELIZABETH (LEACH) RAINES writes novels and plays, as well as books about hypnosis. She has won national, state and local awards for her writing. Her writing ranges from inspiring literary fiction about serious life themes, as in her novel, UNA, to lowbrow comedy (A Railroad Runs Through It, Or: Tied to the Tracks AGAIN!).

Ms. Raines' lengthy publishing history includes magazine stories and articles. In the past, she has been a newspaper reporter and a freelance editor. Her formal education was in piano performance at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and she also spent several years in independent film studies at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh. She still plays the piano, and has a long history of acting and directing.

Ms. Raines is also an internationally recognized hypnotist and the director of the Academy for Professional Hypnosis Training. Along with writing, she has been hypnotizing people since she was 14 years old. She has trained top hypnotists for over a decade, as well as teaching people world-wide to become past-life regression counselors. She is an adjunct faculty member for the National Guild of Hypnotists, has taught self-hypnosis for the Continuing Education Dept. of the University of Wisconsin, and offers seminars and workshops at hypnosis conventions across the country. She was featured on the cover of the “Journal of Hypnotism” in June 2009, and writes frequently for hypnosis journals. According to the National Guild of Hypnotists, Raines is "recognized as one of the leading practitioners of the art and science of hypnotism."

Ms. Raines is the creator and narrator of the Laughing Cherub Hypnosis and Guided Imagery CD series.

Excellent & Informative - a MUST for anyone interested in past life regression

This book is complete and sweet, with one of the clearest descriptions of how karma works that I have ever read. It's beautifully written and full of good information. There are lots of snippets of people's past lives used as examples. The author avoids sensationalism (warning: if you want a book with sensational stories of reincarnation, look somewhere else) and gives readers a lot of choices, including even the choice not to believe in reincarnation. I recommend it for anyone who is interested in past lives and who want to see the nitty gritty of how regression works.

Another book I'd recommend on reincarnation that deals with complete different topics is Carol Bowman's "Return From Heaven: Beloved Relatives Reincarnated Within Your Family." First get the basics about past life regression from "The Laughing Cherub Guide to Past-life Regression"; then read the second book. They are different; both are excellent.
