Overview

Arianna Grace liked her boring, Midwestern, teenage life where she ignored the many unanswered questions of her childhood. Why were her parents dead? Why did she not have family? Where was she raised until she was five? When someone offers to explain it all, Arianna thinks she’s just getting answers. Instead, she is thrown into a world of night humans who drink blood.

On Arianna's sixteenth birthday, her world is thrown upside down when she changes into a vampire. Night humans, or demons, as some call them, live in normal society. Learning all of the new rules of a world she didn’t know existed might be hard enough, but it's further complicated by two former-friends that now want to help her take her role as the successor to her grandfather.

There is a war going on between the night humans. Sides have been taken and lines are not crossed. Four main clans of night humans are struggling for control of the night. Divided into two sides, clans Baku and Tengu have been at war for centuries with the clans Dearg-dul and Lycan. That is, until Arianna Grace finds out the truth; she’s the bridge of peace between the two sides. But not everyone wants peace. With the night humans divided, Arianna is now a pawn in the war between them. She must choose a side—her mother’s family or her father’s—and for once in her life, decide her own fate.

NOTE: if you downloaded this book between 7/4 and 7/10, be advised that, to my frustration, the Barnes and Noble Nook Publishing system added a bunch of computer generated tags that make Chapter 12 unreadable. This has since been fixed, so just re-download it and it should be fine. If you're still having problems after that, e-mail me from my website.
Sorry about the trouble.

If your teen loved the Hunger Games or the Twilight series, it's a reasonable conclusion, that she/or he, will love this book! I almost hate to even compare this book to these others (though of course that makes it easier for potential readers to know if they may enjoy it)
The plot line was exquisite, the connection you felt with the characters made the book come alive. As you read this book more secrets are uncovered provoking you to read on. For a while there I thought I was 16 years old and named Adrianna. I absolutely have fallen in love with the characters of this story. I can feel their emotions and how it would be like to live in a society like theirs. I remember finishing this book and being so glad to have read this and being even more excited when it dawned on me that this is only the first book in the series.

I would like to Thank the author for gifting me this book in exchange for a honest review.
This a different twist on Vampires and werewolves. It was a good different! We meet Arianna shes your regular teenage girl, she was raised by her aunt and uncle and lives a preety normal life. Then on her 16th birthday her life turns upside down and she turns into a vampire a night human thats what their called in this book. There are 4 types of night humans: dearg-dul, lycan, baku and tengu. Arianna is very special, very powerful. Theres a legend of the Blues eyes and she happens to be the only one of her kind with blue eyes. What the legend is about Im not very sure it didnt go into to much detail. We also meet Devin, hes always loved her and he is part of her security, we also meet Turner and Andrew. All are very different types of guys, who would do anything to protect her. Not everyone likes Arianna and what she is and want her dead, so she has to have alot of protection.
This book was great!, I was never bored or lost.Great story! Just it just seemed a little weird that she has 2 guys in love with her and shes not sure who she likes more, I personally love Devin. But the guys are alright sharing her! Like she has 2 boyfriends, three with Andrew. I hope she makes some kind of choice in the next book. Another thing she seemed to sleep alot, I know drinking blood and using too much blood can make a girl sleepy, but it just seemed like she was always sleeping. Still this book was great! Cant wait to read the next one. Thanks again to Kristin McMichael!

This book was wonderful! It has a great storyline, characters, and I cannot wait for the next book to come out in this series. It kept me reading up until the last page and when it ended I was left needing to desperately read the next book. The characters are all just so likeable and fun and they make the book come alive in a sense. I would highly recommend this book!

Let me first start by saying there are a lot of Y.A. Supernatura

Let me first start by saying there are a lot of Y.A. Supernatural books on the market.  McMichael sets her world apart from the others by creating a main character that you believe.  Arianna is an average young woman, raised as an average teenager until her 16th Birthday reveals that she isn’t quite like all the others around her.  If I had to compare it to something, I would call it Princess Diaries meets Supernatural.

The story touches on themes present in some other Supernatural YA: loyalty, trust, romance, teenage love, feuding clans, and ancient power struggles.  McMichael uses these as tools to tell her story and surround the main character with many of the same choices as a YA audience.  Although one of the readers may not be caught in a power struggle between two houses, the average sixteen year old feels every decision is a major life decision.  Readers will relate to the fast paced world and see the world set before them through Arianna’s eyes.

I was half way through the book when I secretly wished for a second book.  I wanted more words and more characters to help me immerse myself in the world McMichael created.  I enjoy character driving story telling.  McMichael creates a world where all act according to their natures.  The story feels natural, not forced, and is the first of a trilogy that I look forward to reading.
