The Lemur's Cry
Even for zookeepers, some animals are more equal than others. Don't get Hannah started on pandas - all the attention they get makes the Small Mammals staff feel a little second-class. But sometimes playing favorites can be a deadly game: After a lemur falls ill and dies, the lemur-feeding study being conducted by Marshall, the zoo nutritionist, comes to an abrupt end when he's found bludgeoned to death in the halls of the Small Mammal House. Did the lemur's keeper kill Marshall in revenge, believing he accidentally poisoned her favorite animal? At a place like the zoo, that motive seems plausible, till a second lemur gets sick in the same way. And when it's suggested that something might have been deliberately added to medication that Hannah administered herself, now it's personal, and she's determined to figure out who's to blame.

About the Author

As a child growing up in the Bronx, Linda Lombardi liked to play with a basket full of plastic animals instead of human dolls. Later in life, she gave up a position as a tenured college professor to take a zookeeping job. She is the author of Animals Behaving Badly: Boozing Bees, Cheating Chimps, Dogs with Guns and Other Beastly True Tales (Perigee, 2011) and of the first Hannah Lilly zoo mystery, The Sloth's Eye (Five Star, 2011).
