Another wonderful book by an amazing author. In The Lie I found myself struggling to not let the tears out while I was reading it at work or any place where people might look at me weird. This book is about healing, both characters when through something horrific and they both handled it differently and in the end no matter their own desires good or bad, they ended up with each other again. It was just such a lovely story, it is not all sunshine and flowers, there’s pain and lots of it but you also get to see them heal that pain and trying to move on and somehow find happiness with the person they once thought would make them the happiest. Life has a funny way of getting us to where we need to be, when we need to be, with the person that we are meant to be with and this story is about that. I’m just so happy with this book and everything Karina writes.

Karina has managed to write yet another angsty book that will pull at your heartstrings. Her ablility to write similar books, yet make them dissimilar is uncanny. The storylines vary but usually have both alike elements and uniqueness to them that one can't help to not ever get bored with them. This story of love lost and found again is one that will surely make your heart pound. It's not a light and fluffy kind of love, as it shouldn't be. Life isn't light and fluffy. Love isn't light and fluffy. It's raw, real and painful. These characters know pain. This journey to forgiveness and love is a rocky and emotional one. I don't think I have come across a Karina book I haven't liked or loved. They all have her unique touch that pulls you into her fairytale world. She sews words together like no other. Make sure when you are ready for this journey that you have your big girl pants on!

4.5 Stars!! He only spoke the truth. Our love was wrong. A lie we told ourselves. And it cost us the world.” “This kiss. This wildfire. This could easily consume us. Until there is nothing left. We’re going to f***ing burn this world to the ground. And there’s no better way to go than in the flames with him.” “Just promise to rise,” I tell her, my voice hoarse. “With whatever is thrown our way. Promise me you’ll rise. F**k the ashes. You’re fire. We’re fire.” “We’re fire,” she says. “We are.” The Lie is an incredibly beautiful and haunting story about two people who fell in love and had their love taken away. The Lie is well written and is told from dual points of view. From the moment you read the prologue, you are sucked into Natasha and Brigs’ story. The events in the prologue are devastating and really set the tone for the story. I’m not going to go into any details, but I will tell you, the events that tear Brigs and Natasha apart are heartbreaking. Brigs thought he knew what love was, but had no clue until he met Natasha. Once he met Natasha, it was game over. Their relationship was forbidden, but deep down, it was meant to be. Natasha brought Brigs to life and showed him what he was missing. They loved each other. Yes, they loved each other deeply, even though it was wrong. When forces beyond their control separate them, it will be four long years before the two of them are reunited. When fate brings the two of them together, it’s as if no time has passed. Fate has finally given Brigs that chance to right some wrongs; apologize for his part in all that happened. Now that fate has given them a second chance, will the two of them take it? Or has too much time passed to get passed all the hurt their separation caused??? The Lie intrigued me from the very beginning. I connected easily to Natasha and Brigs. Their tale consumed me almost instantly. Their story is heartbreaking and the subject matter might be considered a little taboo. Their relationship was wrong, yet right at the same time. Brigs and Natasha’s story will take you one very emotional roller-coaster ride as the journey spans from the start of their relationship, to the present and back to the four years they were apart. Your heart will ache with how unfair the situation was. You will feel their pain and angst as if it is your own. You will find yourself hoping that once the truth comes out, Natasha and Brigs will somehow be able to move past all the pain and hurt. This story is not easy. It is frustrating, and heartbreaking. But, at the same time, this was a beautiful story of hope and a second chance at love. *I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*

OK, If you have been reading this series than I know that you have been dying for Briggs story. I know I was. But I was in no way prepared for it, honestly. Because it was nothing like I expected. Karina Halle managed to surprise me right off the bat. There is a lot more to Briggs story than what I oringally thought and man, it was hard. Like so much harder than Lachlan’s story and I thought that was pretty darn sad. So get some tissues ready because this book starts off devsasting right off the freaking bat people! ‘I’ll never stop feeling it. The rain. The death.’ Gosh, I am really trying to write this review without giving anything way but I just want to say how much I absolutely love Briggs (professor blue eyes). His story is a tragic one but he still has so much love left to give. And on top of that he is one kinky guy, which I can totally get behind. But let me tell you who I really loved. Karina Halle has this incredible ability to write amazing heroines. For some reason, her women always really stand out to me and Natasha is among the very best. She is somehow a wonderful combination of funny, fierce, and fragile and I just absolutely adored her. ‘I drown in it. Because love shouldn’t be ignored. Or shunned. Or buried. If you’re lucky enough to feel it, you need to indulge it. Give it wings. Let it course through your heart and soul, unfiltered.’ This young and wise girl seriously won me over. There were so many great lines from her. It’s not surprising because she is the one, who after all, gives Briggs himself back. So many good lines…one more. Ha “The human heart isn’t mean to be caged by someone who doesn’t feed it.” This story really was an awesome one. There were tons of funny moments, sweet ones. tragic ones, and definitely sexy ones. I just loved it and for some reason I thought this might be the last in this series but I think I am wrong because we get introduced to some more relatives of these sexy Scotsmen. I am hoping we get some more stories about these new folks. ‘I don’t want to disappoint fate.’ ~Amie from Red Cheeks Reads
