Look, if you don't like strong language this book probably isn't for you. But, if you have a ribald sense of humor, you will have a wonderful time reading about the antics of those trying to make money out of the death of a notorious outlaw. The book is well plotted and never slows down. With all the complicated double dealing by all parties involved, it still comes down to a satisfying ending. So what if just about every nasty word in the English language is used in the book? For me that's part of the charm of the story. It should be noted that nowhere is there a derogatory word describing someone's race or ethnicity. You know, the real obscene words. If you like having fun, you can't do better than this book.

I mean really. Her "thrillers" are great. Her funny stories are even better. I love this woman! And so many of her books are free. I'm going to quit being a cheapskate now and buy the rest. ;-)

I loved this book. This is one of my favorite authors and have read everything she has written. Laughed through this book so hard my husband thought I was crazy. Being from a small town I know people just like those in the book so I can see this happening. Well worth the read and read the Bubba books they are also very very good.

I'm on page 152 and I'm bored. Wondering if I even want to bother finishing... I have liked her other books, but this one has not impressed me.

Yes, the book contains foul language and all the swear words, including a whole bunch of new ones straight from the author's imagination. But - and it's a big but - they fit these wacky characters like well-tailored clothes. Accept that and you will find this book to be clever, funny, engaging, and wonderfully quirky. I loved her "Bubba" series, but I think this one is my favorite.

I loved this book! The language was a bit crude but fit the characters and the theme. Laughed all the way through!!!

I have read other books by this author and really liked them, but for some reason, this one just didn't do it for me. I really didn't like the premise, and I didn't like skipping from one town back to the other.

I have loved every C.L. Bevill book until this one. I've gotten bored with the redundant analogies/colloquialisms and the insults too-often exchanged with Paacal's reflection. There are even oft-repeated phrases from her other books. I've grown tired of reading them and that is so disappointing because I loved the Bubba, Shadow People and Lake People series.

This book was very hard to read. The material was uninteresting, and the character development was poor. I have read other books by this author and was surprised at how poorly written this was. I am glad it was free.

I enjoy seeing this author grow. It wouldn't surprise me to see a best seller one day.

Humerious, baudy, and with a totally crazy plot. 2 towns fighting over who gets the remains of a bad goy? Long read with no redeeming quality other than just zany fun.

Truly inventive cussing, and most of it without a dirty word in it. I laughed all the way through this book. If you can't get passed the f-word, then you'll miss out on aa lot of fun. The plot is fast and zany - the good guys sometimes act like bad guys, but the bad guys ALWAYS act like bad guys.

I started to read this because i loved this author's moon trilogy series but this one was long and i got bored before completing it.

I made it to page 200 and it was hard to do that. Same old stuff over and over. BORING.

I enjoyed this book but had a hard time overlooking some obvious things that could not happen in the real-world (not a problem in a supernatural tale, but this was meant to happen in this world with no premise about ghosts).

If you dont like bawdy, garish, and a bit vulgar language then I would suggest you pass on this one. But if your funny bone has a dark side you will love it! I laughed so hard I made my ribs hurt. I couldn't put it down. This was a fun read and the naughty language just made it even more funny because you know people probably say stuff like that under their breath when they think no one is paying attention, lol!
