The Life and Works of William Butler Yeats

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Johnny Loftus
The interesting, well-appointed release from Naxos The Life and Works of William Butler Yeats does precisely that, presenting the life and works of the 20th century Irish poet. After a performance of the traditional "Down by the Salley Gardens," the story of Yeats begins in earnest with a description of his genealogical background, followed by readings of poems from throughout his life. These readings -- performed by British and Irish actors and actresses -- are interspersed with more narration, fleshing out the life, loves, and loss of one of Ireland's most beloved artists.
