Candidly and with sensitivity, Raffi recounts his childhood in Cairo, the family's move to Canada, his adolescence and search for identity, his musical achievements, challenges and setbacks, and the inner journeys of a fascinating life. In over three decades of performing, writing and recording for children, Raffi has shown uncommon integrity and stayed true to his mission: to honour and respect the child as a whole person. Now in this book, with reason, passion and considerable humour, he offers compelling insights into the nature of the child and the universal benefits of nurturing that precious spirit.

Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
The Life Of A Children's Troubadour is Raffi's autobiography in which he shares the story of his life, from his childhood in Cairo Egypt, to his adjustment to life in Toronto as a youth, to his professional success as a musician throughout North America. Raffi reveals the details of his remarkable career, from modest beginnings as a folksinger in coffee houses to soldout children's concerts at Carnegie Hall and on Broadway. Raffi shares his heartfelt beliefs, his love and admiration for children, and his dedication to making the world a better place for kids. The Life Of A Children's Troubadour is a "must" for anyone who has enjoyed and appreciated Raffi's very special music and his influence on a generation of children, parents and teachers.

Raffi is more than he appears

Raffi is more than he appears when you listen to the kids songs he performs. I have listened to his music for years, but not until I read his autobiography did I learn about what makes him tick. And I learned that he does not approve of over using his videos to entertain our young ones. The videos should be shown as a special treat. My kids watch his videos over and over. And we listen to his tapes in the car, over and over. I'm certian he would scowl at my parenting style. Yet, I admire his inner strength, his pride in his heritage, his spirituality and his desire to protect our planet.
