    I Also Recommend:

    An Excellent Book, even today!!

As an African and as an academic person, I REALLY enjoyed reading this book. It gave me GREAT insights into Pre-colonial Africa. And also the slave trade as well, from a FIRST HAND account. A MUST READ for those wishing to learn about the history of the slave on BOTH sides of the Atlantic, from a person who ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED IT! Excellent narrative from an EXTREMELY intelligent writer - you could tell he went thru such pains to "self-educate" himself, to become what was known in English society then, as a "Gentleman". Quite an IMPRESSIVE body of literature. It's also very easy to read and follow. Definitely a must read for any kind of HISTORY BUFF.
