Nineteenth century Virginia educator and author, Mary Williamson, wrote this book ca. 1898 so that generations of young people to come (intermediate to teen) might appreciate the sterling character of General Robert E. Lee. This is the "General Lee" portion of what has also been published as "A Confederate Trilogy for Young Readers." In addition there is included an added short story bonus at the end, which was first published in 1867 as "General Lee and Santa Claus," by Louise Clack, with illustrations.
