THE LIFE OF TITUS is one of the most important ancient sources of history for the early Imperial period, as well as the life of Roman Emperor Titus. Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus (39-81 AD) was the first Roman emperor to succeed his father as emperor. A noted military commander prior to becoming emperor, Titus laid siege to Jerusalem during the first Jewish War, and as emperor he built the Colosseum. Titus died of a fever after only two years and was succeeded by his younger brother Domitian.
