A scorching tale of suspense, passion and magic from New York Times bestseller and USAToday bestselling author Jean Brashear
Newly-minted detective Jace Carroll's innocuous first case plunges her into a world of shifting realities. At the center of the tangled knot is the mesmerizing and mysterious Dante Sabanne, a wealthy recluse whose proficiency with ancient poisons, mystical lore and exotic sexual practices makes him by turns a crucial expert witness, a devastating lover...and possibly the man behind a cult whose profane rituals have turned from depraved to deadly.
Dante is the last of the Light Walkers, guardian of an amulet with healing powers--but that amulet has been stolen, and Dante's powers are fading. As he seeks to fight the evil intent on perverting the amulet's powers, Fate plays a cruel joke--the beautiful detective--who only believes in logic and the tangible--is his Prism, able to separate Light and help him walk the path back to his birthright.
The powerful attraction between them complicates everything, as the Jace who thought she knew exactly who she was and what she wanted becomes both pawn and queen in a battle between the dark and the light. Innocents will die if she makes the wrong choice between the evidence before her eyes and the yearnings of a heart she is no longer sure she can trust.
"Jean Brashear has that 'it' factor. She is an incredibly talented writer who can hit every note with enough clarity to bring the reader tears, laughter or just, 'Oh, my, this is an amazing story.'" ~New York Times Bestselling author Stella Cameron

The hero and heroine have a multitude of layers that make them real. Jace, the heroine cop, has a background that colors the way she sees the world. Like all of us, when she finds her belief system rocked, she falls back on emotional walls she's constructed all of her life. Ms. Brashear's hero is strong yet vulnerable to the woman who can change his world. SURRENDER is a fascinating, sensual, intriguing read that delves deeply into all aspects of human nature. Ms. Brashear's hotly passionate scenes build on the conflict. SURRENDER'S theme is the struggle between good vs. evil and how one can win over the other. I will definitely read more Jean Brashear books.
Has everything. Wish it didn't have to end. Would like to see a sequel. Can you just imagine the possibilities now that their abilties are combined?
Jean Brashear has written a story of the battle between good and evil that left me with chills. Here is a book that has it all, a great heroine, a mysterious, sexy hero, and a villain who is pure evil. Add in a little of the supernatural and you are hooked. The characters will draw you into their lives until you feel like you have always known them. I really was sorry to finish it.
This book is so confusing. Too many point of view changes without breaks. I still have no clue who all the characters are by page 100. Not going to waste my time trying to figure it out.
