Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carlee Hallman
Two or three short prayers on a page are arranged by subjects such as: People I Love, Sad Times, Creatures Great and Small, Forgiveness, and Christian Festivals and Celebrations. Authors such as St. Patrick, Isaac Watts, and Mother Teresa represent various time periods. Many prayers are unattributed. Prayer #107, "Not a Little Angel," reads: "Dear God, When I was little—people called me a little angel, but now I'm older—and they realize they were mistaken. Dear God, Please find a place in your love for someone who is a chatterbox, a nuisance and a troublemaker. Amen." #658 "The Seeds of Peace," says: "In the fields of war let us sow the seeds of peace." #736 "The Ways of Heaven" reads: "Dear God, I am newly arrived on earth. Help me learn the ways of the world. But I will stay here only one lifetime. Let me begin now to learn the ways of heaven." Minimal line drawings accompany the text. An index of authors, index of first lines, lists of prayers related to the church year by months, and a list of Bible references are in the back. Here are prayers of inspiration, humor, and devotion for every occasion. Reviewer: Carlee Hallman
