Meet the Author

Jessica Buchanan worked in the humanitarian aid field in Somalia. She has recently relocated to the United States, where she and her husband, Erik Landemalm, lecture on their experiences while raising their son, August, born in October, 2012.  
Hannah Luce is the daughter of Teen Mania Ministries cofounder and preacher Ron Luce. She is the founder of Mirror Tree, a nonprofit devoted to re-integrating refugees from the horrors of rape, genocide, civil wars, and other means of trauma by funding educational research to improve their lives. She lives in Chicago.
Katherine Preston is a writer, public speaker, and a regular contributor to Psychology Today. Raised in England, she currently lives in San Francisco. Find out more at KatherinePreston.com.
Reyna Grande is an award-winning novelist and memoirist. She has received an American Book Award, the El Premio Aztlán Literary Award, and the Latino Book Award. Her second novel, Dancing with Butterflies, received critical acclaim. In 2012, she was a finalist for the prestigious National Book Critics Circle Awards for her memoir The Distance Between Us. Her works have been published internationally in countries such as Norway and South Korea.
Shirley MacLaine has appeared in more than fifty films, has been nominated for an Academy Award six times, and received the Oscar for Best Actress in 1984 for Terms of Endearment. She also recently starred in the hit TV show Downton Abbey. A longtime outspoken advocate for civil rights and liberties, she is the author of ten international bestsellers. She lives in Malibu, California, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Bryce Andrews was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He studied at Whitman College and the University of Montana, and has managed several cattle ranches in the West. He lives in Montana.
Theresa Caputo was born and raised on Long Island in Hicksville, New York, and lives with her husband and two children. Theresa began seeing spirits at age four. A sufferer of anxiety for many years, her mother suggested she go to a spiritual healer. After meeting with Pat Longo, an energy healer and spiritual teacher, she discovered she had the ability to communicate with spirits. Now a practicing medium for over ten years, Theresa started her business with just a business card and word of mouth and was booked for two years even before Long Island Medium aired on TLC. Tom Sizemore rose in prominence as an actor throughout the 1990s, establishing himself as a memorable tough-guy character. Born in Detroit, he got his start in Born on the Fourth of July and has since starred in Devil in a Blue Dress, Strange Days, Wyatt Earp, Natural Born Killers, Heat, Saving Private Ryan, and Black Hawk Down, among many others. Sizemore recently costarred in Fox’s television pilot Exit Strategy and had a recurring guest-star role on Hawaii Five-O. Sizemore has counseled both teens involved in substance abuse and recovering addicts and is actively involved with the Hollenbeck Youth Center in East Los Angeles.
Raquel Cepeda is an award-winning journalist, cultural activist, and documentary filmmaker. A former magazine editor, her byline has appeared in The Village Voice, CNN.com, the Associated Press, and many others. Cepeda directed and produced Bling: A Planet Rock, the critically acclaimed documentary about American hip-hop culture’s obsession with diamonds. She lives with her husband, a writer and TV producer, daughter, and son in her beloved New York City.
Samantha Geimer is married and has three sons. She divides her time between Hawaii and Nevada.

Nine free very well-written excerpts from books of real life situations including the stories of two actors - Shirley MacLaine and Tom Sizemore. All the stories for the most part are told in a first person narrative. The complete books can be found for purchase on the Barnes and Noble Nook site.
