School Library Journal - School Library JournalGr 1-3-- An exploration of the variety of creatures living in an assortment of habitats near human dwellings. It's easy to read, and somewhat like titles in the ``New True'' series (Childrens). The chapters, each comprised of one or two paragraphs, offer chatty observations concerning the animals found in specific areas. Readers might be encouraged to look for rabbits, foxes, or rats near their own homes. Generally, while the information given is accurate, it's easily found elsewhere. However, the book is attractive, with several full-color photos per double-page spread, and could serve to whet readers' appetites for observing the world around them. --J. J. Votapka, Hempstead Public Library, NY
