Overview

First popularized in Tolkien’s classic and bestselling series, The Lord of The Rings has garnered millions of fans around the world. The stunning film trilogy by Peter Jackson was groundbreaking, beautiful, and, as expected, hugely successful. The Lord of the Films is a unique scene-by-scene guide to all of the Lord of the Rings movies, with lots of games, puzzles, and interviews with the filmmakers tossed in. In this book, each scene in each movie is tackled on four different fronts: a closer look at the plot and the action, a look behind the scenes, a reveal of mistakes that slipped through, and audiences’ reactions. In addition to the famous live-action trilogy, other related films (such as the animated adaptations) are covered as well. As an added bonus, the author reveals details about the prequel films currently in production and due out in theatres in 2011 and 2012, as well as a foreword by Cliff Broadway, a staff member of TheOneRing.net a member of the inner circle of those who worked on the films. After reading this book, fans will feel like they’re watching The Lord of the Rings for the first time all over again!

"Braun has somehow managed to capture every little additional detail you could ask for from The Lord of the Rings films every step of the way. The book is wonderful as either light reading for fans of the films looking for more LotR content and deeper appreciation, or as a companion guide while the movies play on the television."  —Buzzine

If you love the Lord of the Rings films, as I do... this book is a "must have". You NEED it, because with it, you'll enjoy the films even more. Well written, downright laugh out loud funny at times, and chock full of insider info that you have never heard anywhere else, the author did a great job of making this book not just readable... but Re-Readable, in a big way. Shelve this book right next to the films, you'll be glad that you did.

The Lord of the Films is one of those junkfood books that you can instantly get into, and that you know you'll want to keep the rest of your life. It's the have-to-have item of 2009 for LOTR fans, without a doubt.

The hype is true. J.W's book is a must read for anyone who has seen the Lord of the Rings films. It's the best book about a film I've ever read. A great gift for anyone.

This is an obvious 5 star, two thumbs up book. If you own the films on DVD, it's a must have. Even if you just casually like the film, you'll want to get the book. And Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Jackson's films, and Braun's book are the foundation for any serious fan's collection.

Read this book. No, seriously. Go read it now. If you like the Lord of the Rings films, you'll love this book! JW Braun has done interviews with people who worked on these movies behind the scenes, and he's come up with all sorts of trivia, funny quotes, interesting things about them. I laughed out loud the entire time I read this book, and frequently called my brother with "Did you know..." moments I wanted to share. Braun's writing style is quick, engaging, and slightly goofy as well; I imagine his personality is much the same. So really, if you like these films, you need to read this book now. Immediately. Go ahead. I'll wait. -N

As a fan of both LotR and trivia, this book was right up my alley. In addition to the plethora of interesting facts about the creation and impact of the three films, Braun's writing was entertaining and humorous. Reading the book made me remember all the things I love about the LotR story (both the book and the films) and want to revisit both!

If there was anything more you wanted to know about the filming of the greatest film trilogy of all time, here it is in JW Braun's book. It reveals facts that you may have heard and some you didn't. It's well researched and there are games too, crossword and word search. Enjoy!
