Overview

The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer most prayed in our culture, spoken in countless services, private devotions and in 12-Step meetings. Yet in its familiarity we can underestimate its power to heal and transform our lives. Now, therapist and minister Wayne Muller gives us fresh insight into this timeless prayer and how it can elevate our hearts, spirits and vision. Starting with the word “Our” (which reminds us that we never pray alone), Wayne leads us, phrase by phrase, into the heart of the prayer, to the assurance of a heaven that is available to us here and now. He explores how God responds to our needs and wants, and how we can seek protection in a world full of danger and evil. This guide includes prayer practice and was originally published under the title of LEARNING TO PRAY.

Editorial Reviews

Spirituality & Practice - Frederic & Mary Ann Brussat
"... he challenges us not to have a hard heart, which he sees as the source of much pain and suffering. Muller harvests the riches of the Lord's Prayer without slighting either its simple elegance or the complexities of human nature... He also shakes up our conventional thinking when he reveals that heaven is not a place, but a presence that shines through people, experiences, and the best moments of our lives."
