Bruce lee is my idol when it comes to martial arts. He helped shape my style of karate through his ideas of using what works and discarding what doesnt work. My style has the two things i think are the most important: stand up game and ground game. His ideas helped me take karate, throw out what isnt effective for street combat, add in grappling techniques from various arts (bjj, judo, kung fu), add some stand up work (wing chun, ninjitsu, 52 blocks, krav maga), mix all of that together (74 techniques including self defense), then finish it off with naming my style (thats the hard part and i still haven't created a name for it). I definitely love his respect for all styles and sub-styles of martial arts. He understood and taught the world that they all have pros and cons. Hes one of the few people that can say it and actually mean it. The gracie family couldn't (actually they might), the machados couldn't, every traditionalist would tell you youre an idiot for thinking outside the box. Bruce if you can see this from the buddist heaven, thank you for what youve done for the public as well as the martial arts.
