Overview

The breakout popularity of MTV's The Osbournes led the Vitamin label to issue another volume in their infamous "lounge" series of tributes to pop and rock acts. The Lounge Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne: Sabbath in the Suburbs features nine Osbourne/Sabbath originals, reworked into chintzy arrangements of bossa nova, beatnik jazz, and dinner-theater pop. Examples include "Iron Man," driven by Cuban-style percussion, and "Flying High Again," which takes a turn toward 1950s doo wop. It's all very silly. It's important to note that Sabbath in the Suburbs does not include the Pat Boone version of "Crazy Train" that's used as the opening theme to The Osbournes. That particular sonic train wreck can be found on Boone's own In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy, or the show's official soundtrack, Osbourne Family Album.
