The Low Gi Diet Revolution is the ONLY diet guide that has worked for me. It is the most practical, and sensible eating plan, and one that is backed up by good science. You don't have to submit to extreme diets to lose weight, and gain good health. This book proves that. It debunks the premise of the low carb philosophy, namely that carbs are fattening. NOT SO. All carbs are not eqaul, and the authors reveal the complexity of the food we eat, how different sugars are metabolized, how the type of starch, the cooking method, the fibre, acid and fat and protein content of the meal affect it's impact on insulin.Even the low GI of the previous meal can moderate the next meal. All this is missing in standard, popular low carb diets, making them dangerous diets because they minimize healthy carb sources like vegetables, and fruits, and legumes. Whole grain products can be enjoyed because some are not going to impact insulin as much. The other good advice is the excercise. It gives a practical guide to excercising, and you will find that you can do it as soon as you read the book. Other good advice is that it emphasizes healthy types of fat, rather than just LOW FAT, it talks about energy density, and other interesting and informative nutrition science. This diet works! You won't feel like it is a major shift, it's just a pracitical guide, and it lets you eat REAL food, and not go into bizarre diet changes like eating nothing but salads most of the time, or cutting out bananas and carrots. If you are TIRED of the vegan extremists, and the latest incarnation of the Low Carb gurus, then get this book. It is SANE, sound, REALISTIC and EFFECTIVE diet.AND it is healthy! You will LOVE the FOOD choices, and the meals!

This book is a good place to start if you are looking to change to a low-glycemic diet. The book provides useful and easy to understand information on the cause and effects of too much glucose and how food choices effect this. Within the first week of being on this diet I feel much better and have lost 5 pounds.
