    The BEST Study Bible ever!

The Lutheran Study Bible bu Concordia Publishing House (There is another Lutheran Study Bible by Augsburg/Fortress....YUCK!) is a wonderful contribution to the study of Scripture.

I am an Evangelical Catholic, so some of the notes are a bit too "protestant" for my taste, but other than that, this is definitely a MUST HAVE for the serious student of the Bible.

The ESV text is a delight and the study notes, being on the same page, are very extensive and very consistent with the Lutheran Tradition..

One of the little features I like (I find new stuff every week) is a time indicator on the top of every page as to when the Book was written, which helps keep things in perspective when studying.

If you are challenged in sight, I recommend the "Larger Print" edition. Warning: the Larger Print version is very big, thick and heavy. I personally love it, but the little ladies in my parish were freaked out when they picked it up.

So, if you are looking for a comprehinsive study Bible with a relable translation (ESV), this is the Bible for you!

The Lutheran Study Bible (Concordia Publishing House)

The Lutheran Study Bible is an outstanding resource for those who seek the historic, confessional Lutheran perspective. It's the Bible, a bible dictionary, commentary and concordance all wrapped in one! In addition to the notes one might expect, such as alternative translation and clarifications, other notes share the insights of Martin Luther and the early Church Fathers. It also contains a Biblical Topics listing that will be helpful for anyone researching a particular theme.

There is another Lutheran Study Bible (Augsburg Press)that is less traditional in its perspective and more accomodating to recent social trends. Those who seek a Christ-centered, confessional stand, should select the one by Concordia Publishing House.

Highly Recommended for any Christian or discerner

I got this bible from B&N and I have been disappointed by it. A superb work of scholarship on the core explanations of the various passages including extensive information on each book including Msrtin Luther's own scholarship.
