    Interesting.

Although the build-up was rushed, this was an interesting story. These little novellas are meant to draw people into another story, but the authors are rushing through what could be an interesting book in itself. Will read the next one.

This novella left me wondering if I should care about any of the characters.  They all spoke the same and didn't particularly sound appropriate to the time period.  And the story was written in first person to boot.  The premise of the story was promising, but the plot was rushed and incompletely developed.  Kudos to the author for solid editing, though.
