The Magic of Play
12 year old Audrey likes computers, television, and all of the latest styles. Aged Great Aunt Virginia lives in a tiny apartment stuffed with antique books, music boxes, and dolls.
When a friend needs help, Great Aunt Virginia's magic tea set carries her and Audrey to the enchanted land of Arcadia, where all the magic is done with jump rope chants. But Great Aunt Virginia can't jump rope anymore, so she needs young Audrey to become the new protector of the dolls.
The baby dolls have been kidnapped, the tin soldiers attacked, and the marionettes, hand-puppets, and paper dolls are helpless against a powerful, unknown threat. All of the dolls need Audrey to learn the Magic of Play, discover who is threatening the dolls, and rescue the baby dolls.
But Audrey is a modern girl who wants to play with computers and video games, not dolls. Yet then she learns that the magic powers of the jump rope are almost unlimited ... and work in the real world, too! Can a young girl handle unlimited magic ... without learning adult responsibility?

About the Author

When not writing, Jay Palmer is often seen waltzing or doing the hustle upon dance floors all around Seattle. Born extreme ADHD at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, Jay grew up on military base, moving to a new city every two years. Jay Palmer has always sought the novel and the obscure, and joined numerous fringe groups as a teenager, including Wicca in 1972, the Markland Medieval Mercenary Militia in 1974, Puget Sound Star Trekkers and the Society for Creative Anachronism in 1979 (where he fought his way to become a knight, herald, seneschal, and autocrat), and working ConCom for Norwescons 2-6. Today Jay Palmer rides a Kawasaki Vulcan and leads a quiet life working as a Technical Writer for major software firms, including Microsoft, Attachmate, and the Walt Disney Internet Group. Jay is always looking for the next party, interesting people to meet, and new places to dance.
