Editorial Reviews

The Daily Advance - Robert Kelly-Goss
"... Sauls has masterfully created a thriller that is as much literary success as it is mystery. This is a must-read book for the summer; especially for those who love the Outer Banks, and love a great story." - Robert Kelly-Goss, The Daily Advance
Blurb - Keith Ferrell
The Magician’s Secrets is a strikingly ambitious debut novel that delivers the real goods – compelling readability, sharply realized characters, a watchspring-tight plot, the perils and the pleasures of memory, the burden of guilt, and the promise of redemption. The real magician here is J. G. Sauls, and that is a secret that no reader will be able to keep for long.

Keith Ferrell, , author of Passing Judgment, former Editor-In-Chief, OMNI magazine

    Fun Read

The story draws you in right from the start. Interesting characters in exciting situations keep things moving from North Carolina to California. Can't wait to see what situations Rob gets into in the next books of trilogy.

    Fascinated, entertained and HOOKED!

Anyone who reads this wonderful book is going to get hooked, too. The characters stay with you long after the last page, and - in Sauls' skilled hands - the possibilities are endless for equally fascinating and entertaining sequels. There are so many things to like here. One of my favorite discoveries is that anger and outright rage CAN actually be conveyed convincingly in the written word. I think love is easy, since the typical reader is more than happy to help the author along. Anger and rage are tougher, however, when the storyteller is pretty much on his own. Sauls is one of the select few who do anger and rage well. The Magician's Secrets seems to prove that he does it ALL well. Can't wait for more!

Captivating and then spellbinding. Wonderful read!

Few books are able to capture so much imagery and emotion while providing such an exciting story. Getting to know the characters and experience their travels and events has hooked me. Can't wait to find out more about Rob, Gino, Toby and Shannon!
