Having read a few of this author's published short stories, I was waiting for the publication of this full-length novel with bated breath. And I wasn't disappointed. I fair raced through the book - couldn't put it down. The Magpie Trap is an emotional roller-coaster. A study in the heart of darkness of the modern city. A lesson that there's more to life than money in these cynical times. But first and foremost, it is an excellent crime novel which gets in the heads of the wannabe criminals as well as the jaded detective on their tail. The build-up to the heist at Edison's Printers is nail-biting and expertly executed. Its also full of eye-opening detail on the types of security system that the criminals have to overcome. The dramatic set-piece ending is simply brilliant. I'll await the next installment with bated breath.
