The Make-Over: A Teen's Guide to Looking and Feeling Beautiful

by Jane Parks-McKay, Betty De Araujo (Illustrator)

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 8 Up The subtitle really says it all. In a down-to-earth, encouraging style, the author, a former model who has an image consulting and modeling business, advises teenage girls on discovering ``inner beauty''; developing a workable individualistic wardrobe; dieting and exercise; grooming skin, hair and nails; and improving posture and movement. The black-and-white line drawings add to the book's pleasant format, and the illustrations of various exercises are clear and easy to follow. Parks-McKay has gone beyond simply revamping looks; hers is a guidebook to overall self-improvement, inside as well as outside, similar in scope to Looking Pretty, Feeling Fine: Total Beauty for Teens (McKay, 1979) by Marjabelle Y. Stewart. Diane P. Tuccillo, Mesa Public Library,u Ariz.
